Premier League – Tottenham vs Stoke Betting Preview

There is one more match in the Premier League on Sunday as Tottenham look to move back to second in the table and within 10pts of Chelsea when they host a Stoke side who will go back into ninth with a win of their own.

Tottenham

Mauricio Pochettino’s men will need to bounce back from a disappointing night at Wembley on Thursday evening when they were shot out of the Europa League. They can’t blame a weakened side or not wanting to win either as they were strong and very much wanted to get through to the next round so that was a blow.

Spurs will also be looking to get back to winning ways in the Premier League too after losing their last league match up at Liverpool. They are undefeated at home though and have only dropped four points from 36 at the Lane so that will be something they can draw on heading into this match.

Stoke

Given where they were right at the start of the season for Stoke to be in the top half of the table and completely safe and looking up and not down the credit has to go to everyone involved for not panicking and believing in themselves unlike other clubs in this division in recent times.

The Potters have suffered just one defeat in their last seven which was the only game in their last nine matches that they haven’t scored in so when they score they tend to get results at the minute and that will be a warning to Tottenham and everyone else Stoke are coming up against in the near future.

Team News

Dele Alli is available for this match despite his sending off for his shocking red card in midweek. Danny Rose and Erik Lamela remain on the sidelines though.

Xherdan Shaqiri could return for this match which would be pretty significant for Stoke. Saido Berahino is also in line to appear from the start which would be a real rarity these days.

Betting

This isn’t a game to bet on for me. I say that even though I’m tempted by Stoke in some capacity. Backing up Thursday night matches is never easy and backing up losing ones can be even harder but I’m going to give some credit to Tottenham’s home record which might count for something here.

I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if Stoke get something out of the game but if Spurs do shake off Thursday’s disappointment they are probably still likely to win the match. With no value jumping out at me I’ll sit this one out.
