Premier League – Tuesday 16th May Matches Betting Preview

We have Premier League matches every night up until Thursday this week as the season enters its finale and on Tuesday there are two matches which could well have significant implications on the top four placings.

Both Manchester City and Arsenal head into the night fighting for fourth spot but if they both win then they will bring Liverpool into the equation ahead of the last matches on Sunday.

Man City vs West Brom

Man City head into the night in fourth place but a win will shift them ahead of Liverpool into third with one game remaining. West Brom aren’t playing for anything but they showed on Friday night that despite that they are not the easiest nut to crack.

We saw from City on Saturday that the longer things stay tight the more anxiety can creep into their play and that would be a concern for me if I was backing them to get the job done at incredibly short prices. It would certainly put me off taking them on a handicap.

West Brom have lost five of their last six but they’ve all been by two goals or less so they are not getting spanked or anything. Although they’ve lost their last four at the Etihad three of those defeats have been by two or less too. With the anxiety around the Etihad and the need just to win rather than win big I think the Baggies can stay within two here.

Arsenal vs Sunderland

Arsenal don’t have their destiny in their own hands but they can ensure a few nerves around for Man City and Liverpool on the final day if they win here and given how abject and rank Sunderland have been this season it would be a surprise if Arsenal do anything other than win this one.

Even the strongest Sunderland fan can’t make a case for their side to win this I wouldn’t think but Arsenal are plenty short enough and while a 2.5 handicap looks a fair one I just can’t bring myself to back a side to cover that sort of a cap when just winning is the ultimate aim. I wouldn’t be surprised if Arsenal do cover this, in fact I probably expect them to do it, but winning big isn’t the concern here, just winning is so I’ll sit this out as there may not be quite the margin in this bet that I’d like.
