Premier League – Wednesday 5th April Matches Betting Preview

The midweek round of matches in the Premier League conclude on Wednesday with the remaining six fixtures including a titanic top of the table clash when leaders Chelsea host title chasers Man City. That is the TV match but the support cast is of a decent standard too as we look to build on our one and a half wins from Tuesday evening.

Big Matches

The big match of the night is undoubtedly the clash at Stamford Bridge where Chelsea will be looking to put 14pts between them and their opponents while looking to keep second placed Spurs at bay at the same time. Spurs will be looking to close the gap on Chelsea when they head to Wales to take on a Swansea side in good nick at home. At the bottom of the table there is a clash between Hull City and Middlesbrough which neither can afford to lose.

The Rest

In the other three matches there is a London derby when Arsenal host West Ham at the Emirates Stadium while Liverpool will look to consolidate a top four spot when they entertain Bournemouth at Anfield. The other match comes from St Mary’s as Southampton host Crystal Palace.

Betting

I took Hull at the weekend but I’m reluctant to take them against a staunch Middlesbrough side who are hard to break down. I would still favour Hull there but we saw Marco Silva go gung ho for the points on Saturday so it is possible they could get caught going after too much. I was tempted to bet on the big match but it isn’t a game Chelsea have to win in my eyes. If they draw that a significant part of the job is done so I don’t want to get involved there after all.

There were one or two others which tempted me but in the end I’ve gone with just the one and that is on a Crystal Palace side who have won their last four matches, including at leaders Chelsea on Saturday. They head to a Southampton side who have won just one of their last seven on home soil and who have scored just 14 goals all season at home which is pretty ordinary.

Palace have found their mojo in recent matches with the form of Wilfred Zaha a key component to that and with Southampton largely playing out time and struggling for goals without Manolo Gabbiadini and Charlie Austin I’ll take the Eagles to avoid defeat in Hampshire.
