Premier League – West Ham vs Tottenham Betting Preview

Friday Night Football is back in the Premier League this weekend as the title race looks to take another twist. It is back with a London derby with a real difference here as title chasers Tottenham head to the Olympic Stadium to face a West Ham side who would love to deny them a shot at the main pot.

Spurs will move to within a point of Chelsea with a win here and they would really pile on the pressure on the leaders ahead of their match on Monday night. West Ham aren’t playing for anything as far as the league goes but beating Tottenham is always a big thing for them.

West Ham

It really hasn’t been a season to remember for West Ham but they have managed to manoeuvre their way to safety which given where they were around Christmas is something to take from the campaign. In many ways this season was always going to be difficult after leaving Upton Park and on the back of a fine year last season.

It doesn’t take a whole lot of searching for where West Ham have been going wrong this season. Only Hull, Swansea and an abject Sunderland have shipped more goals than them and going forward into next year that is something they will need to sort out. Although they have won just one of their last 10 matches they are undefeated in four.

Tottenham

There is a real mirror between last season and this one as far as Tottenham are concerned. While they were in Europe they weren’t always the most consistent side but since they have been knocked out they have gone on an insane run which has catapulted them right into the title picture and a win here would be a tenth in a row.

Heading into the match nobody has lost fewer matches than Tottenham and nobody has conceded fewer goals but it has been their attack which has dazzled most sides in recent times. They have scored 14 goals in their last five matches and are beginning to look rampant. They need to avoid complacency though.

Team News

Injuries have dogged West Ham all season and they are definitely without Diafra Sakho, Angelo Ogbonna, Pedro Obiang and Michail Antonio for this match while Andy Carroll faces a fitness test.

Tottenham have a couple of players out for the season themselves in Erik Lamela and Harry Winks while Danny Rose hasn’t returned to training yet so they all miss out for this one.

Betting

It is hard to see past Tottenham in this match. West Ham just aren’t winning enough football matches for my liking and haven’t ever really convinced at home throughout the campaign. The Hammers face a real tough test here and I’m not sure they have the personnel to cope.

This Tottenham side are in fine form at the minute and I don’t think they will pass up the opportunity to stick Chelsea under real pressure. Five of Spurs’ last six wins have been without conceding. Only Swansea have scored against Tottenham in their last six and I’m not convinced a suddenly goal shy West Ham will fare any better. I’ll take Tottenham to nil in this one.
