Royal London One Day Cup – Tuesday 2nd May Matches Betting Preview

There is another busy day of Royal London One Day Cup matches on Tuesday as the tournament continues towards the halfway stage. There is action in both groups on Tuesday but unfortunately none of them are on television so we are reduced to radio coverage once again.

North Group

There is a midlands clash in Derby as Derbyshire look to build on their win over Northants over the weekend when they take on a Nottinghamshire side who have lost their two matches thus far. Leicestershire host Warwickshire in the other match in this group on Tuesday with the visitors playing for a second time in as many days which is never easy.

South Group

There are three matches in the South too. Surrey host Essex in what looks the pick of the matches at The Oval while Kent head to Taunton to take on a Somerset side who are two from two in this competition. The other match sees struggling Sussex taking on a Glamorgan side who can be special or shabby.

Betting

I like two matches on Tuesday and they are both on away sides. In the North Group although they have lost their opening two matches I think Nottinghamshire can bounce back with a win at Derby. They might have lost their two matches so far but they have been to Worcestershire and Yorkshire and I don’t think either of those sides will have much trouble qualifying for the next stage.

I’m not convinced by Derbyshire even though they have a win and a no result to their name. They are missing some key bowlers ahead of this match and that isn’t ideal when facing Lumb, Hales, Patel, Taylor et al. Nottinghamshire are almost in must win territory and I think they will win this one.

Essex look a big price to win at Surrey. I don’t think there is a lot between the two in fairness but Essex bat incredibly deep and they have a lot of bowling options and they can prove the difference in a close game. Essex have beaten a formidable side in this competition in Hampshire and they can make it back to back wins against a Surrey side who amazingly lost from a winning position at Somerset in their opening match before beating Glamorgan last time out.
