Shriners Hospitals for Children Open – Final Round Betting Preview

As always a bunched up leaderboard will battle it out for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin on Sunday but with a clear absence of prolific winners at the head of the action we could be in for another dramatic final day.

Little known Web.com Tour graduate Brett Stegmaier takes a one shot lead into the final round. Morgan Hoffmann chases him and plays alongside him on Sunday. Both made some strange decisions down the stretch on Saturday and you just wonder how they will handle the pressure on the back nine on Sunday.

More illustrious names sit in the group two back on 11 under par. Jimmy Walker is the obvious stand out name but even he was slack on 18 on Saturday which makes me wonder if he is entirely trustworthy. Kevin Na and Chad Campbell will both be looking to land rare PGA Tour titles.

Alex Cejka will be looking for a second PGA Tour title of 2015 from three behind on 10 under par. He tees off in a group of players which contains Cameron Tringale, Nick Taylor and our pre-tournament selection Jason Bohn. History suggests you don’t want to be any more than three back here so those in single figures could have too much to do.

Kevin Na is now a 9/2 favourite to win the tournament ahead of the 11/2 shots Jimmy Walker and Morgan Hoffmann and that in itself shows how open this tournament remains and also how unreliable those bang in contention are.

In truth there isn’t anyone who stands out to me going into the final day and while I was tempted by the 25/1 on the German player Cejka I’ll sit the outright market out and hope that my earlier pick Bohn can come good despite his poor showing on Sunday last week.

Instead I will look to the final round two balls where one pairing stands out to me. It has been an emotional week for Ryan Palmer who is only playing in memory of his father but that will keep his motivation to finish well very high.

Palmer takes on the unchartered Mark Hubbard in what looks like a favourable match. Hubbard began the tournament well but has found life tough since as the course firms up. Palmer is used to playing firm and fast courses and I expect him to outscore his opponent on Sunday.

Back R.Palmer to beat M.Hubbard for a 4/10 stake at 1.80 with Bet365
