Preview

There are five matches over the course of the evening with three of the four favourites for promotion at the start of the season in action. Two of those meet at The Hawthorns where West Bromwich Albion welcome Sheffield United in a battle of two of the three teams who dropped out of the Premier League last season. The other fancied promotion candidates on show are AFC Bournemouth. They make the trip to St Andrews to take on Birmingham City.

The other three matches all look like competitive affairs with all eyes up in east Yorkshire where Hull City play host to a Derby County side who are in real trouble even this early in the season. Middlesbrough and Queens Park Rangers were touted as promotion dark horses and they meet up at the Riverside while the other game sees Nottingham Forest looking to get off the mark for the season when they welcome Blackburn Rovers to the City Ground.

Betting

There is only one bet that I like the look of on Wednesday evening and it is the big match from The Hawthorns where West Bromwich Albion can see off Sheffield United. I was at The Hawthorns on Saturday and it is hard not to be impressed with the intensity and the relentlessness that the Baggies play with. That isn’t a surprise of course because it is the hallmark of a Valerien Ismael outfit but when you see it in person it is quite something.

I suspected Sheffield United would be the weakest of the three to drop down for a couple of reasons. They are having to undergo a strong change in formation but more importantly they are just devoid of goals. The fact that the latter is so obvious it makes you wonder why their biggest signing so far this summer has been a centre-back. The Blades might come good in time but they need a bedding in period to the new manager. West Brom have hit the ground running and I expect them to win this too.

Tips

Back West Brom to beat Sheffield United for a 3/10 stake at 2.05 with Betway
