Sky Bet Championship 2022-23 – Saturday 15th October Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

Another three match week in the Sky Bet Championship gets underway on Saturday when 11 fixtures take place on a day where all of the teams who are involved will look to separate themselves from the rest in the congested table.

We have a bit of a bonus on Saturday as we have two TV matches as opposed to the one we normally get so there is a double helping of action to enjoy. As ever the other games will be updated in all the usual places.

Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (3pm unless stated, UK TV in brackets)

Luton Town v Queens Park Rangers (12.30pm)

Rotherham United v Huddersfield Town (12.30pm – Sky Main Event & Sky Football)

Bristol City v Millwall

Burnley v Swansea City

Cardiff City v Coventry City

Middlesbrough v Blackburn Rovers

Preston North End v Stoke City

Reading v West Bromwich Albion

Sheffield United v Blackpool

Sunderland v Wigan Athletic

Watford v Norwich City (7.45pm – Sky Football)

Big Matches

The action begins at the New York Stadium where a Yorkshire derby takes place as Rotherham United welcome Huddersfield Town in the first of the two TV matches. Without meaning any disrespect to anyone I think it is fair to say that the pick of the two TV games comes in the later one to kick off as two sides who met in the Premier League last season do battle in the Championship on Saturday evening as Watford look to put successive defeats behind them when they entertain a Norwich City side who will be hoping to end the day on top of the table.

Best of the Rest

Sheffield United go into Saturday on top of the pile and they will be looking to remain in the lead when they entertain Blackpool at Bramall Lane. By the time the Blades kick off they might already be down to second spot as QPR have the chance to hit top spot when they head to Kenilworth Road for another early kick off on Saturday. They face a Luton side who will be looking to pick up their home form. At the other end of the table Coventry City will be looking for a second win of the campaign when they make the trip to Cardiff City. West Brom begin life without Steve Bruce when they make the journey to Reading while managerless Middlesbrough will be hoping to see off Blackburn Rovers at the Riverside. Burnley and Swansea City both begin the day in the top six and will be looking to remain there when they face each other at Turf Moor.

Betting

I’m not sure there is much value in Middlesbrough at even money but I do expect them to get the better of Blackburn Rovers who continue to flatter to deceive on their travels, and who have struggled with the third game in a week all season. They have played three of them and lost their first two and only beat Rotherham in the other one. Blackburn won their opening away game this season but have lost five of the next six, beating Blackpool 1-0 with that being the only goal they have scored in that time.

Middlesbrough have dispensed with the services of Chris Wilder, which was a surprise move but reflective of where they are in the table, however they are not low in the table because of their home form because they have only lost once at home all season. Their struggles away from home are their problem. The big thing for Middlesbrough is they have had a whole week to work on things under their interim manager whereas Blackburn went to Wigan on Tuesday night and turned in a very average performance. There are too many of them on their travels for Blackburn which makes me think Middlesbrough can get a much needed win here.

Tips

Back Middlesbrough to beat Blackburn for a 3/10 stake at 2.00 with William Hill
