Big Matches

The leaders Sheffield United suffered a rare defeat in midweek when they went down to QPR and they will be looking to bounce back from that when they head to the Bet365 Stadium to take on a Stoke City side who have just four teams below them in the table now. Norwich City will be looking to take advantage of any slip up by the Blades when they welcome goal shy at both ends Preston North End to Carrow Road. Burnley and Swansea City are the other top six teams in action. They head to Coventry City and host Sunderland respectively.

Best of the Rest

Aside from bottom of the pile Coventry, the other side in the bottom three in action on Saturday are West Bromwich Albion. The pressure is really beginning to build on Steve Bruce and Luton Town are the team heading to The Hawthorns looking to pile even more on him. Blackpool sit one off the drop zone and they welcome Watford to Bloomfield Road. Blackburn Rovers will be looking to make it back into the top six when they host Rotherham United while Middlesbrough and Cardiff with look to continue to build form without permanent managers when they head to Millwall and Wigan Athletic respectively.

Betting

Sheffield United were beaten at Watford on the opening week of the season but they haven’t lost on their travels since then and have won their last three away matches without conceding. I think there is value on taking them with some draw cover when they head to Stoke City on Saturday afternoon. The Blades will be riled up from losing in midweek in a match where they had 21 shots but couldn’t find the back of the net. You wouldn’t think that is going to happen too often.

Stoke looked a terrible side when they were on our screens against Watford last weekend and while that humbling brought a performance out of them on Wednesday night when they picked up a 1-1 draw with Burnley, there is a feeling Burnley are beginning to flatter to deceive a touch at present. The issue Stoke have here is they have had a day less to recover and coughed up 70% of possession to Burnley so will have had to put a real shift in during that game. Stoke aren’t likely to impose themselves physically on Sheffield United who can match anyone in the league in that department and so the fresher legs of the Blades can get back to winning ways here.
