Preview

You would imagine all eyes will be on Steve Bruce in the TV game on Wednesday evening as he takes his West Bromwich Albion side to Deepdale to take on a Preston North End side who are short of goals at both ends of the pitch. West Brom have one win in 11 in the league this season and that clearly has to change if Bruce is to stay in the job. The highest side in action on Wednesday are Burnley. They play host to a Stoke City side who will be looking to respond to their mauling at the hands of Watford at the weekend.

The aforementioned Watford will be in action in the first home game in charge for Slaven Bilic on Wednesday evening when Swansea City are the visitors to Vicarage Road. Elsewhere, Middlesbrough begin life without Chris Wilder when they play host to Birmingham City while Rotherham United will have new manager Matt Taylor around for their home match against Millwall. The other match sees Hull City playing host to Wigan Athletic in a fixture more synonymous with rugby but which is important to the two football teams.

Betting

I saw Hull City with my own eyes on Friday evening and it is easy to see why they have changed their manager as they looked a very poor side. They offered little in the attacking areas and were wide open defensively whenever Luton attacked them or pressed to put them under pressure. They will have had a few days to work with the temporary coaching staff but whether they have had enough time to sort their defensive issues out is another story.

The Tigers are struggling at both ends of the pitch having failed to score in their last four matches and shipped 20 in their last seven. They now host a Wigan Athletic side who have more points on their travels this season than any team in the league and who have won their last four away matches. An opening away game draw away to Norwich has been followed with wins at Birmingham, Luton, Huddersfield and Rotherham and they look a good side on their travels. Leam Richardson made four changes to his side at the weekend and they ran out easy enough winners so there is no shortage of squad depth at his disposal and I expect the visitors to have too much for an ordinary Hull outfit.
