Preview
The main TV cameras head to Elland Road on Tuesday evening for a clash between two promotion chasers when Leeds United play host to a Middlesbrough side who are extremely good to watch at the minute. A point will take Leeds back to the top of the table but should they fail to achieve it then Burnley have the chance to end the night in top spot. They look to have found something of a groove and will host Derby County at Turf Moor. Sunderland are the other team in the top five on show and they could also end the night top of the pile if they can win their home match against Bristol City.
Blackburn Rovers have made their way into the top six in the table courtesy of four straight wins and they will be hoping to make it five on the spin when they make the trip to Hillsborough to take on a Sheffield Wednesday night who have also flown up the table in recent weeks. The other three matches have impact on the bottom of the table. Portsmouth have come off the bottom in recent weeks and they will hope to come out of the bottom three when they host a Norwich City side who are flattering to deceive at the minute. Luton Town are safe enough for the time being but will want three points from a home date with Stoke City while Plymouth Argyle look to move out of the bottom three when they entertain Swansea City.
Betting
I’m going to target the TV game for a bet and I am expecting goals when Leeds United host Middlesbrough. Middlesbrough arrive here off the back of a solid 1-1 draw with Burnley at the weekend and having scored against the best defence in the league they will be confident of taking the game to Leeds and having some joy, particularly as they have already won 3-0 here in the Carabao Cup this term. Keeping Leeds out this time might be a different story though.
Leeds are free scoring at home and while they haven’t conceded many at Elland Road, Middlesbrough arrive here as the joint second highest scoring team in the league. That makes me think we will get goals at both ends and both teams to score is 1.83 but it might be worth adding some juice to the bet and taking over 2.5 goals on top because that takes us up to 2.30. The two meetings between these two last season ended 3-2 and 4-3 so the bet would have landed in both of them and with these two dynamic attacking sides facing each other I’m expecting something similar again here.
Tips
Back Leeds United vs Middlesbrough – Both teams to score and over 2.5 goals for a 3/10 stake at 2.30 with William Hill
