Sky Bet Championship 2025-26 – Blackburn vs Ipswich Tips, TV and Betting Preview

There is one match in the Sky Bet Championship on Tuesday evening which is a repeat of a game which was abandoned after 79 minutes earlier in the campaign as Blackburn Rovers play host to Ipswich Town for a second time.

Rovers actually led that contest 1-0 at the time the rain got too much and the match had to be postponed so Ipswich will be looking to make full use of their second opportunity and cause more woes for the Ewood faithful.

Where to watch

The match will be shown live and in full on the Sky Sports+ channel with the relatively short build-up beginning at 7.40pm ahead of the 7.45pm kick off.

Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers have struggled for consistency this season and the reason for that has been their home form which has been very ordinary. That probably makes the original abandonment of this fixture all the more annoying for them as they would have felt confident that they could have held out for what would only have been their second win in nine on their own patch this season. If they want to move up the table and avoid having to look over their shoulder in the second half of the campaign then they really need to find results at home.

The big problem Blackburn have is scoring goals at home. They have only done it seven times in their eight matches and so that needs to change if they are to start winning at Ewood Park. Their away form is fine so if they can find a way to start winning at home then there is no reason why the Lancashire side can’t climb the table. This will be a big test in whether they can start to do that here but in many ways they have little to lose in this one.

Ipswich Town

There were signs that Ipswich Town were getting their act together in recent times but then that came to a halt in their trip to Oxford United on Friday night where they put in a bit of a shocker of a showing and came up dry. Given that they weren’t at their best in that match, Kieran McKenna’s men will probably appreciate the opportunity to get straight back on the horse. They will put forward the argument that they are in a much better place now than they were when they first made this trip this term.

That was a first defeat in seven for Ipswich and it will be interesting to see whether that was just a blip or whether a pretty hectic schedule is beginning to catch up with them. They had scored 10 goals in three previous away matches prior to that so we probably shouldn’t write them off just yet but that loss on Friday night does offer up a bit of caution. Nevertheless, a win here would spring them up into the top four and they would be nicely placed to achieve their aims from there.

Team News

There have been some weird messages sent out from Valerien Ismael and Todd Cantwell around the availability of the man who actually scored the goal in the abandoned match between the two and his status is unknown as a result of that.

Ipswich Town had the likes of Jack Clarke and Kasey McAteer on their bench at Oxford on Friday night and if Kieran McKenna wants to rotate his players then they would be obvious candidates to come into the starting XI here.

Betting

If this match had come before I watched Ipswich Town on Friday night I would have had a lot more comfort in backing the Tractor Boys for this match. I still think they will win the match and I still think they are decent enough value to back but I might just keep my stake to a normal one instead of push the boat out because that defeat on Friday night is still in my head. Ultimately, Blackburn have been very poor in front of their own fans this season so this is a huge chance for Ipswich to bounce back from Friday.

Lowly Norwich, Swansea, Sheffield United and QPR have all been to Ewood Park and won this season and if we look behind the loss to Oxford on Friday night, Ipswich had won their last three with a barrel load of goals. I’m prepared to allow them a poor performance, especially as they have had the extra day to recover. Blackburn were away from home on Saturday so their preparation might be a bit more rushed so there is just about enough in the Ipswich win to tempt me in.
