It is the final day of the Skybet League 2 season on Saturday with all 24 sides in action one last time in the regular portion of the campaign. We might be 45 matches into the season but there are still three things to be settled amazingly.
They are the champions, the last two playoff spots and which one of Newport County or Hartlepool United will follow Leyton Orient out of the league at the bottom end. We are set for a fascinating finale.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows (All games kick off at 17:30 BST):
Blackpool v Leyton Orient
Colchester United v Yeovil Town
Crawley Town v Mansfield Town
Crewe Alexandra v Barnet
Exeter City v Carlisle United
Grimsby Town v Plymouth Argyle
Hartlepool United v Doncaster Rovers
Luton Town v Morecambe
Newport County v Notts County
Portsmouth v Cheltenham Town
Stevenage v Accrington Stanley
Wycombe Wanderers v Cambridge United
Big Matches
There is a TV match on Saturday which comes from the Victoria Ground as Hartlepool have to beat Doncaster to have any chance of staying up but Donny need to win to keep their title hopes alive. Those hopes won’t exist if Plymouth win at Grimsby. The Pilgrims know that if they beat Grimsby they will be champions. If both slip up them Portsmouth could nail them both on the line if they can beat Cheltenham at Fratton Park.
Best of the Rest
Newport County host Notts County knowing that if they win they will retain their league status for certain while the race for the playoffs couldn’t be tighter. Blackpool should secure a spot when they host Leyton Orient but then Carlisle, Cambridge, Stevenage and Colchester all have a better than even chance of getting the final spot.

Betting
I’m going with three bets in this division on Saturday. The first two are on two of the three title chasers. I think Plymouth have it in them to win their match at Grimsby and put the title beyond the other two but I’m expecting Portsmouth to come flying out of the traps to put pressure on the two sides above them. Both sides have favourable lines to back them with against heavily inferior opposition.
The other bet is on Accrington to kill off Stevenage’s hopes of the playoffs once and for all. At the beginning of last month Stevenage were certainties to make it into the end of season showdown but they’ve fallen apart in the last month and while a win could see them in I fancy Accrington will get something from the Lamex.
I saw Accrington last week and I think they are a very handy side still. Luton took advantage of Accrington’s situation that day but the boot is on the other foot here and with Stevenage having to force the pace I think that suits Accrington who can sit in and pick them off accordingly and come away with some sort of result for their efforts.
