Big Matches

Four of the top five battle each other in a huge day at the top on Saturday. Former leaders Plymouth host the current leaders Doncaster Rovers at Home Park while second placed Carlisle Utd head to Kenilworth Road to take on fifth placed Luton. Portsmouth, in fourth at kick off, head to Grimsby while sixth placed Yeovil host Barnet.

Best of the Rest

There will be a few nerves around Whaddon Road as second bottom Cheltenham play host to fourth bottom Exeter while surging Wycombe head to Notts County looking to continue their fine run of form. Two other sides who are in form meet at the Lamex Stadium when Stevenage host Blackpool while the pre-season relegation favourites Newport and Morecambe battle it out at Rodney Parade.

Betting

When I looked at this card earlier in the week there were a few bets I fancied but as the week has gone on that has whittled down to one really. Yeovil are still a big temptation but the new manager syndrome is in effect at Barnet which is annoying. Carlisle are a silly price at Luton but I’d still like slightly bigger to take my own side on so in the end I’ve decided to stick with one.

Wycombe couldn’t be in any better form at the minute if they had tried. They went to Chesterfield in the FA Cup last week and battered them 5-0 and then made eight changes in the EFL Trophy at Millwall on Wednesday night and turned them over too, and having seen that Millwall side with my own eyes in the previous round of matches that is no mean feat let me tell you.

It has all gone wrong at Notts County both on the field and off it and I actually wonder how much their focus will be on this match and how much will be on their FA Cup replay in midweek knowing that if they win that they go to Chelsea in the next round. Jon Stead could be back for County which is a boost but Wycombe are a solid side at this level.

The Chairboys have won their last four in League 2 and only conceded one goal in that time so a draw no bet line looks wrong to me here. I’m happy to get involved in Wycombe against a Notts County side who have lost their last four in the league.
