There is another round of League 2 matches on Saturday although the weather is starting to have an effect on which ones will and won’t go ahead. At the time of writing one match has been postponed in the division leaving us with 11 games as the table begins to sort itself out going into the final third of the campaign.
Saturday’s matches are as follows:
Accrington Stanley v Carlisle United
Barnet v Newport County
Blackpool v Yeovil Town
Cambridge United v Mansfield Town
Cheltenham Town v Plymouth Argyle
Doncaster Rovers v Crewe Alexandra
Exeter City v Colchester United
Grimsby Town v Notts County
Hartlepool United v Stevenage
Leyton Orient v Morecambe
Wycombe Wanderers v Luton Town
Big Matches
Arguably the biggest match of the day comes from Adams Park as fifth placed Wycombe host sixth placed Luton with both sides desperate for the points to try and close the gap on the top three. Leaders Doncaster look to have a comfortable outing against Crewe while second placed Plymouth and third placed Carlisle are both on the road to Cheltenham and Accrington respectively.
Best of the Rest
Cambridge will look to continue tearing up the division when they welcome Mansfield to town while Barnet play host to the bottom side Newport. Colchester head to Exeter in a battle of the form teams. Dave Jones’ first game in charge of Hartlepool sees Stevenage as the visitors to the Victoria Ground.
Betting
There are two bets for me in the division on Saturday and they are both home sides who I think look very good. Barnet have won six of their last nine with the three games they didn’t win coming against Doncaster and Luton and a home defeat to Stevenage who are excellent on their travels so there isn’t anything too wrong with those slip ups.
Newport’s last win came so long ago it is starting to exit the memory banks of people and although they ended a slump of eight defeats on the trot with a draw against Colchester last week I’m far from convinced anything other than normal service will be resumed here. I’m with Barnet.
I’m also with Cambridge against Mansfield. Cambridge have been in really good form over the last couple of months and have taken 10pts from their last 12 at home. Although Mansfield are improving they have still only won one of their last nine on the road and couldn’t put Notts County away last week. I think Cambridge win this one.
