Skybet League Two – Boxing Day Betting Preview

There is another full round of fixtures in Skybet League 2 on Boxing Day with all 24 sides looking to get a big result to take into another set of games on Monday.

The Boxing Day fixtures are as follows: (3pm kick off unless stated)

Dag & Red v Cambridge 13:00

Accrington v Carlisle

Wimbledon v Bristol Rovers

Barnet v Newport

Crawley v Stevenage

Hartlepool v Notts County

Leyton Orient v Portsmouth

Luton v Wycombe

Morecambe v Mansfield

Oxford Utd v Exeter

Plymouth v Yeovil

York v Northampton

As ever in this league there are some monster journeys and a couple of more local matches but they all look pretty competitive to me.

On the face of it there aren’t many home sides I like here. Plymouth are odds on against Yeovil but they’ve not been in the best of form recently so they look a little short while although Oxford should beat Exeter they don’t cover big handicaps very often which is a negative for those looking to back them.

After a bit of consideration I’ve decided I don’t like any home side and instead I’m going to back three away sides on their various Asian handicaps and the first of those is the former leaders Northampton who travel to York.

In fairness to York they finally won a game last week but even though it is Christmas I don’t see them following that up. Northampton lost at home to Portsmouth last week but there’s a huge gulf between Portsmouth and York and this is an ideal chance for the Cobblers to get back to winning ways.

AFC Wimbledon are now winless in six matches which isn’t at all ideal and I think they are worth taking on with Bristol Rovers. The Gas men have won their last three matches including a last minute winner against York a couple of weeks ago and I’m going to take them to continue their momentum in this one.

Finally Stevenage are undefeated in six matches including a creditable draw with Accrington last time out and they head to a Crawley side who have lost three of their last four and now have to make do without Rhys Murphy who has gone back to Oldham.

Stevenage have improved immensely since Sheringham hit the loan market with the likes of Jamille Matt looking an excellent signing. They carry all the momentum into this one so I’ll take them to cover a handicap here.

Back Northampton to beat York for a 4/10 stake at 2.00 with William Hill
