Super League – Sunday 13th March Betting Preview

There are two matches left in the Super League this weekend with both being played out on Sunday afternoon. The bottom two meet at the John Smith’s Stadium as the Huddersfield Giants host Hull KR and Castleford welcome Salford to The Jungle.

Huddersfield vs Hull KR

It has been a nightmare start to the season for both these sides. Huddersfield have lost their opening four matches of the campaign while Hull KR also have four defeats but did manage a draw against Castleford earlier in the competition.

Injuries have been a big reason for the struggles of these sides. Huddersfield have had a horrible amount of them and they are still missing some really key players such as Scott Grix and Jamie Ellis. Joe Wardle and Kyle Wood are in line to return as is Eorl Crabtree which is a positive at least.

After hiring James Webster as head coach Hull KR also have an influential player back in Terry Campese for this one. Shaun Lunt is also ready to return as is Jon Boudebza who has completed his suspension for a tackle in the draw with Castleford.

Huddersfield are getting one or two back and they might finally pick up a win here but I’m sure it will be nervy and edgy and in the end they might just settle for any sort of win rather than go mad and try to run up a cricket score.

Whenever Albert Kelly and Terry Campese combined last season Hull KR were usually pretty potent and I fancy them to test this Giants defence enough to stay relatively close if they can’t quite pinch this one. You can get a 14pt start for the visitors and that is just too big for me.

Castleford vs Salford

This match is fifth against sixth with both sides looking to win the game and keep pace with the top four who are slowly starting to pull away from the pack. Castleford give up six points with the bookies but I don’t really want to take them because Ben Roberts is missing as are a couple of forwards.

Salford are much improved this year but they are under a bit of a cloud off the field with the Doctor being accused of paying bonuses outside the salary cap. Traditionally the Red Devils don’t travel all that well either which makes me think the handicap is about right here so I’ll sit this match out.

Back Hull KR (+14) to beat Huddersfield for a 4/10 stake at 1.91 with Bwin
