Super League XXII – Friday 31st April Matches Betting Preview

After a hard fought opening match of the current round of Super League matches on Thursday night there are two more games for us to indulge in on Friday night including a heavyweight battle in front of the TV cameras.

It might be a sign of the times or simply a sign of how well Castleford Tigers are doing at the minute that the leaders aren’t on the TV this week. Instead the Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors probably fairly get that billing and it is that match which begins our preview.

Leeds Rhinos vs Wigan Warriors

Much was made of the demise of the Leeds Rhinos a few weeks ago and I was one of those writing them off but amazingly a win here could take them top of the table. A win could also take Wigan Warriors top of the table too.

If you had said after the humbling that Leeds took at the hands of Castleford a few weeks ago that the Rhinos would be favourites for this match I would definitely have laughed but it is a sign of the injuries that Wigan have which make that the case.

I’m not convinced Wigan should be outsiders though. Even with all their injuries they have beaten Warrington and only went down by two points to a good Hull FC side last week and although Leeds have three wins on the bounce in Wakefield, Catalans and Huddersfield what have they beaten? Not a lot.

Wigan have three players back this week in Liam Farrell, Oliver Gildart and Ryan Sutton and those three inclusions can get the Warriors back to winning ways.

Castleford Tigers vs Huddersfield Giants

The leaders Castleford Tigers host the struggling Huddersfield Giants away from the cameras on Friday night in what is expected to be an emphatic home win for the league leaders.

That is exactly how I see it too. It took a Salford monsoon to stop Castleford this season but in the other games they have played with freedom, panache, entertainment and most importantly skill and belief and I don’t see how Huddersfield stop them.

You could argue Huddersfield might have put up some points of their own like Catalans did on Sunday but even that chance is hampered with the suspension of lynchpin Danny Brough for the Giants. Castleford are giving up 20 here but I fully expect them to do it and some.
