Super League XXII – Saturday 4th March Matches Betting Preview

The third round of Super League matches comes to a close on Saturday when the final two matches are played out. With the table beginning to take shape all four sides will be looking to pick up a vital win and build some momentum going forward.

As has been the case all week so far there is a TV match and a match away from the cameras. We’ll begin the preview with the TV game.

Catalans Dragons vs Widnes Vikings (5pm kick off UK time)

Catalans Dragons with two wins from their two matches so far take on a Widnes side yet to win on the season in what will surely be a home win. If this season’s form isn’t enough to dictate that then the fact that Widnes have never won in Perpignan might do.

The Dragons have been excellent so far this season and in Warrington and Hull FC they’ve touched off two pretty decent opponents. Widnes have lost to Huddersfield and then to Wigan in heart-breaking fashion.

I think the home side will win this match but the handicap looks pretty high I have to say. I don’t trust Widnes in any way and if forced I’d suggest Catalans will cover the 18pts but it is high enough not to interest me either way.

Salford Red Devils vs Warrington Wolves (3pm kick off UK time)

An up and down Salford side take on a Warrington Wolves who are looking for their first win in the Super League this season in the match away from the TV cameras. Warrington won in the World Club Series but they’ve been beaten twice in the Super League.

Salford have lost to Leeds and Wigan this season and seen off a disappointing Huddersfield side while Warrington have lost in France and to the rampant Castleford Tigers of which there is certainly no shame. The Wolves have Kurt Gidley back this week which could be huge.

Salford looked alright at Huddersfield but they still shipped 20pts in that match and more worrying they shed 20 more against a worryingly poor looking Leeds side last week. I would wager Warrington attack better than both of those and the Wolves could well stick up the sort of points total that sees them finish comfortably more than six points ahead at the end of this one.
