Super League XXIII – Saturday 10th February Matches Betting Preview

Super League treads new ground on Saturday when it shows its worth globally with the first ever match in the competition to take place in Australia when the Wigan Warriors take on Hull FC in New South Wales.

That is one of two matches in the league on Saturday with the other one not being played in the UK either. That match sees St Helens making the trip to France to take on the Catalans Dragons. That is the second match of the day and we’ll preview them in kick off order.

Wigan Warriors vs Hull FC

The big clash in Australia sees the former champions Wigan Warriors taking on the Challenge Cup winners Hull FC in a match between two sides who kicked off their campaigns with a win last week.

Wigan were emphatic victors at Salford Red Devils while Hull FC powered past Huddersfield Giants and both those wins have had their form franked with the performances their opponents have put up this week already so we should be in for a high class game.

I guess the first thing we need to reference is the change in conditions and the team that adjust and acclimatise to them the best will most likely win this match but I don’t see Wigan as massively more likely to do that than Hull FC. I would expect this to become a physical battle up the middle and I would favour Hull in that. I expect this to be close so the value lies in the black and whites.

Catalans Dragons vs St Helens

Two sides who has contrasting fortunes last weekend meet in France when the Catalans Dragons host St Helens. The Dragons were well beaten by Widnes in their opening match while St Helens thrashed the Castleford Tigers.

We’ve seen this week already that sides who were beaten out of sight last week have offered much more in their second match and those who won have struggled to get past those sides as a result and I fancy that trend could continue here.

At home in France I don’t expect the Dragons to be as awful in this one and while St Helens may be good again it would be hard for them to be as good so the obvious bet looks to be on the home side to remain within 12pts whether they win or lose.
