Super League XXIV – Friday 12th April Matches Betting Preview

The biggest match of the Super League season so far takes place on Friday night when the top two meet in what should be a pulsating contest to take us to the busy Easter period. The match between the Warrington Wolves and St Helens is one of two on the evening.

Wigan Warriors are in action in the other match so three of the best teams in the Super League are on show on what should be one of the best nights of rugby league of the year so far. The top two clash is on the TV but as always there are ways of keeping up with the other games.

St Helens vs Warrington Wolves

Only point difference separate St Helens and Warrington Wolves at the top of the table, with the visitors having the advantage going into the evening, so whoever wins here will head the charts at Easter, where so much can happen.

Saints go into this one off the back of a defeat in France last week but they had been perfect for the season since then so we can allow them one off day. Warrington have only lost one match all season too and that was also in France to the Catalans Dragons and they had a relative cruise against the London Broncos last week so should be fresh enough coming in here.

Warrington still never convince me in the big matches though so I’m with St Helens to edge this one. A 4pt handicap is probably about right but you’ve got to think there will be enough respect between the two that nobody runs riot in a match of this magnitude. With that in mind the Saints by 1-12 looks good to me.

Wakefield Trinity vs Wigan Warriors

Wakefield in fourth play host to the champions Wigan Warriors who head towards Easter and next week’s big derby at the wrong end of the table so both sides will be looking to win this one and enhance their position ahead of the busy period.

You would have been taken to the doctors if you had said at the start of the season that Wakefield would be a beat price of 8/13 for this match even allowing for the hoodoo they seem to have over the Wigan Warriors at this ground. Part of me tells me Wigan are value in this match but you can’t spend value and really we should be paying attention to how poor the Warriors regularly are here. That makes Wakefield tempting but not quite appealing enough.
