Super League XXIV Magic Weekend – Leeds Rhinos vs London Broncos Betting Preview

The penultimate match of the Magic Weekend in the Super League sees two of the three sides currently at the wrong end of the table on the lowest number of points meeting when Anfield hosts Leeds Rhinos and the London Broncos.

One of these sides are going to pull away from the threat of immediate danger by winning this match but we might see something of an edgy affair until the confidence flows through one of them and allows them the chance to play their best rugby.

Leeds Rhinos

It has been another season to forget for the Leeds Rhinos so far. They have already dispersed with the coach who was meant to lead them out of their slump and you get the feeling that there is a clear lack of direction at the club. We keep expecting them to burst into life and go on a bit of a run which will pull them clear of the bottom end of the table, but the longer we go without that happening the more we’ll begin to wonder if it ever will.

Leeds head into this match having lost three of their last four matches in Super League, with a win over Hull KR in between hardly anything to shout about at the present time. They also lost to the Bradford Bulls in the cup in that run as well so it is fair to say that the Rhinos are in turmoil at the minute. This could have come at the right time but then maybe it is better for them to go under the radar rather than the big stage. We’ll find out soon.

London Broncos

I think most judges would have expected the London Broncos to struggle this season whatever happened after their promotion last term, but when Jarrod Sammut switched the capital for Wigan those expectations would have intensified significantly. With that in mind, it is to their credit that they are clinging on to a couple of clubs in the table and will move off the bottom of it if they can come out on top here.

London needed a confidence boost heading to Anfield and they got it in the form of a fine victory over Wakefield Trinity last week where they scored heavily and probably won a shade better than the end score suggested. If they can keep Leeds at bay here, you would fancy they will have enough in them to get points on the board and perhaps increase the Leeds’ troubles.

Team News

The Leeds Rhinos are going to be without Konrad Hurrell and Tui Lolohea for this match as both are injured. Jack Walker returns though and there could be a debut for Alex Sutcliff as well as they look for a much needed victory.

London Broncos coach Danny Ward has made two changes to his squad despite their win last week. Olsi Krasniqi and Matty Fozard come back into the fold and they replace Eloi Pelissier and Mark Ioane in the squad.

Betting

I don’t think I could be having the Leeds Rhinos right now. They look in disarray and while they will be expected to win this match that might not be the best thing. London Broncos have been able to play without pressure to an extent all season and they showed that when these two met at Headingley earlier in the campaign when they went to Yorkshire and won.

I’m not sure whether they will win here, although I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if they did, but you’ve got to think that with the points they have in their attack they will be dangerous on this big pitch. London are getting eight points here in some places and that is just a couple too many for me. I’ll take them with that start.
