Super League XXIV – Saturday 9th February Matches Betting Preview

The second weekend in the Super League continues with two matches over the course of Saturday, as four sides look to either build on a good start from last week, or kick their season into life as quickly as possible.

Action comes from England and France over the course of the day with the beaten finalists Warrington Wolves competing as well as the Challenge Cup winners Catalans Dragons who host the second match.

Warrington Wolves vs Hull KR (15.00)

The first match of the day sees two teams who won their opening matches last week taking each other on when the Warrington Wolves host Hull KR with the chance to get to four points on the agenda of both outfits.

Warrington were impressive winners over a Leeds Rhinos side who underperformed and who did nothing to frank the form on Friday night, while Hull KR edged out their city rivals Hull FC in a classic Hull derby last Friday so both teams will be buoyed by the confidence of success here. I expect Warrington to win this match but whether I expect them to cover 16pts this early in the season I’m less sure. That feels about right so I’ll sit this one out.

Catalans Dragons vs Huddersfield Giants (17.00)

The second match on the Saturday schedule sees two sides looking for their opening win of the season after pretty ordinary defeats last week battling it out when the Catalans Dragons host the Huddersfield Giants.

The Catalans Dragons were my pick for the Super League this season and their home form was one of the reasons why so they will be looking to put their loss at Castleford Tigers behind them. Of more concern last week was Huddersfield Giants’ defeat to the Salford Red Devils, which was a bit of a beating in the end and that spells concern to the Yorkshire outfit to me.

I think we are going to see the Dragons improve as they go along in this campaign with all the changes that were made heading into the season, but there is no doubting the quality that they have within their ranks. If Huddersfield are as exposed defensively here as they were last week then Catalans can not only beat them but cover a dozen too.
