Super League XXIX – Friday 26th July Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Super League XXIX season continues on Friday night when three more matches take place across the country on an evening where the race for the playoffs and the battle for the League Leaders’ Shield take centre stage.

As is the case throughout the entirety of this season, all three matches are live on the TV for us to enjoy, although you will need more than one device on the go if you want to watch all of them as the kick offs clash.

Hull KR vs London Broncos (20.00 – Sky Sports Arena)

One match on Friday night sees Hull KR looking to continue their playoff charge when they welcome rock bottom London Broncos to Craven Park for a match the home side will be emphatic favourites to come out on top in.

Hull KR begin the night just two points off the leaders and in third place in the table and with the two sides above them in the standings meeting this could be a big night in the season of the Robins. They have met the Broncos twice this season already and have put up 114 points in those two matches so this looks very much a case of how many Hull KR will win by, especially with London shipping points at a crazy rate having leaked 70 in their last two matches to teams who aren’t in the top six reckoning at the minute. Hull KR are 36 point favourites in this which looks fair enough but I’ll happily let them cover that if they are good enough rather than worrying about any back door covers or them easing up and the like.

Leigh Leopards vs St Helens (20.00 – Sky Sports Mix)

Two sides who will be looking for points meet at Leigh Sports Village as Leigh Leopards look to keep their feint playoff hopes alive when they host the former champions St Helens who have hit a wall in terms of their recent form.

Saints make the trip to Leigh having lost their last four matches in the Super League and the big concern is that they have only scored 46 points in total in those games so while their last two defeats were against the top two in Wigan and Warrington, the fact that two were against Salford and Castleford highlights that their attack has stopped functioning how they would have wanted it to. Leigh looked to be going nowhere this season but a couple of fixtures have dropped kindly for them and all of a sudden successive wins have reignited their season, albeit they still need a huge finish to the campaign if they are to have a second straight shot at the playoffs. I initially liked Leigh here but with Saints potentially having Tommy Makinson back from injury they might find that they function better in attack in which case they could sneak this one. I’ll wait for team news because I commit to anything in this one.

Wigan Warriors vs Warrington Wolves (20.00 – Sky Sports Main Event & Sky Sports Action)

The pick of the matches on Friday evening comes from the DW Stadium where the champions Wigan Warriors look to take a giant leap towards retaining the League Leaders’ Shield when they host the team immediately below them in the table in the form of the Warrington Wolves in a repeat of the Challenge Cup final from earlier in the campaign.

These two sides are very much the best two teams in the competition at present and they should put on a real show for us here but I am leaning towards the Wolves in this one. Wigan don’t look anything like as potent without Jai Field and Bevan French in their side, understandably given the quality that they possess, and neither are in the squad for this game, and that was evident when they lost at Hull FC last week. If there was a concern over Warrington this season it was that they didn’t seem able to beat the big teams in the higher profile matches but the win at St Helens last week when they were down to 12 men for so long felt like a coming of age win for the Wolves and with the playoffs all but secured they can give this a good go and lay a bit of a marker down here. I think the Luke Yates addition will see the Wolves go from strength to strength and a side who have won their last four feels like a big price at 9/5 against a side missing their two best threats.
