Huddersfield Giants vs Salford Red Devils

Five days after securing their spot at Wembley, the Salford Red Devils are back in action when they go up against the Huddersfield Giants in what should be a pretty entertaining fixture to kick off another round of Super League action.

It will be interesting to see if there is any emotional comedown here for the Red Devils after the emotional win over Warrington on Saturday to book their spot in the Challenge Cup final. If there isn’t they will fancy their chances of winning this even allowing for the pick up in form that the Giants have shown since Luke Robinson took charge and the extra time the Giants have had to prepare for this contest.

I’m not interested in guessing on that but whether there is a drop in intensity or not I expect to see more than 45.5pts in this match. Both these teams have players who can open up a defence and plenty of players that can get them into position to strike. We’ve seen plenty of high scoring matches involving one of these two teams since lockdown and I expect these to combine for another. I’ll go with over 45.5pts.

Hull FC vs Leeds Rhinos

The second part of the Thursday double header has had a late switch to it with Hull FC stepping in at the last minute to replace the Castleford Tigers who have come down with a load of positive Covid-19 tests and were withdrawn from the fixture.

That will benefit the Leeds Rhinos for whom it should be a matter of how many they will win by but bookmakers are taking no chances with the situation and none of them have actually priced up the match. If someone goes in play on it you’ve got to think Leeds will run riot against a Hull FC side who are ravaged by injuries themselves but with no odds to bet on pre-match we’re forced to leave the game alone.
