Super League XXVI – Friday 18th June Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The Super League week continues on Friday evening when two more matches take place in what can only be described as some strange scheduling given a certain sporting event that is taking place elsewhere at the same time!

Four teams go in search of another win to add to their tally on an evening where not surprisingly the TV bigwigs have decided not to go up against the England vs Scotland Euro 2020 game so it is the apps and radio commentaries if you want to follow these matches.

Huddersfield Giants vs Salford Red Devils (19.45)

One of the two matches on Friday evening comes from the John Smith’s Stadium where Ian Watson takes on his former side when the Huddersfield Giants play host to the Salford Red Devils in a game both outfits could really do with winning.

These two sides sit in the bottom four in the table going into the match although the Giants have three wins to their name to the one of Salford so they are much better placed overall. Salford have had huge injury issues this season which hasn’t helped their plight and they are not much better off in that regard for this one. Huddersfield had last week off as they were hit by Covid-19 positive tests so they might have a disrupted preparation for this one. The Giants are still able to be at full strength here and given that Watson will know how the Red Devils play I’m expecting a home win here and a relatively comfortable one at that.

Wigan Warriors vs Hull KR (19.45)

The other match on Friday evening sees the beaten finalists of last season in Wigan Warriors taking on a Hull KR side who have done more than enough to take away any fears of being relegated and who can look to bloody a few noses for the remainder of the campaign.

Wigan Warriors had their match postponed last week so this is the first time we will see them in action since the mauling they took at the hands of the Catalans Dragons a couple of weeks ago. The week off has allowed them to get Oliver Gildart and Liam Marshall back in the paddock and that has to be a positive for their chances. Hull KR shouldn’t be underestimated though having won three of their last four matches so given that Wigan have a bit to prove here I’m not really that inspired to get involved in this one.
