Super League XXVI – Thursday 1st July Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The latest set of matches in the Super League season conclude on Thursday night with just two of the four scheduled fixtures remaining after a couple of them were called off because the Covid-19 problems that are troubling some clubs.

One of those two to go were scheduled to be on TV and it was too late in the day to switch to another game so we don’t have any TV action to follow on Thursday but there are plenty of ways of keeping up with the scores.

Huddersfield Giants vs Catalans Dragons (19.45)

One of the two matches to remain on the schedule sees the table topping Catalans Dragons taking on a Huddersfield Giants side who have struggled a lot more than they would have been expected to this season.

The Giants have just been unable to regularly get their best team on the pitch and that remains the case here with Aidan Sezer having picked up an injury and we saw earlier in the campaign how much they struggled without him. The Giants go into this match without a win in three so that looks a little ominous for them. They take on a Catalans side who will have the likes of Sam Tomkins and Tom Davies back in their ranks after they missed last week’s win because of the England game. Catalans go in here having won their last five games and only the Warrington Wolves have stopped them in that time. You’ve got to think the Dragons will win this match and I’ll take them to do it with a fair bit to spare.

Leeds Rhinos vs Leigh Centurions (19.45)

The other match sees the Leeds Rhinos taking on a Leigh Centurions side who have looked massively out of their depth this season and are still searching for an elusive opening win of their return campaign.

Leeds have lacked consistency this season but they are another team who have struggled with injuries throughout. That remains the case here so even though they are overwhelming favourites I’m not interested in them covering an 18pt handicap given who they have out. At the same time, while Leigh have been competitive in periods of matches, they haven’t really stood out as a team I want carrying my money so this one is an easy one to leave alone.
