The Super League week continues on Friday night as two more matches take place in the competition with the race for the top six very much the centre of attention on what has the potential to be a pivotal night in the campaign.
One of the two matches is live on our TV screens as ever and given the significance of the other match there is sure to be regular updates from it throughout the coverage and then highlights at the end of the main game.
Hull FC vs Castleford Tigers (20.00 – Sky Sports Arena)
The televised match on Friday evening sees the team in sixth in the table hosting the side one spot above them as Hull FC welcome the Castleford Tigers to the MKM Stadium in what is simply a massive match for both sides.
Hull FC go into this match in sixth in the table and a win here will consolidate their play-off hopes but a loss will not only see the team nearest to them above them in the table get away from them, but would leave them as sitting ducks to those in behind. Castleford can cling to the tails of the top four with a win in this match which could see them hosting a play-off game if they can push their way into that section so there is plenty on this match. Had it not been for three big injuries for the Tigers I would be all over them here. Hull FC have lost the plot defensively having conceded 62 points and 60 in two of their last three matches and in the one in between Hull KR scored 28 at the Magic Weekend and bungled a bunch of chances to go over the try line too. Castleford showed last week that while the injuries are mounting up and hurting them defensively they are yet to have an impact on their attacking play so I’m expecting a bunch of points here and for the two to combine for more than 44.5 points in this one.
I’ll also have another play in this match which is a smaller bet on Derrell Olpherts to score a hat trick at 20/1. Most of the issues Hull FC are having defensively is out wide. Ash Handley scored five tries in Leeds’ 62 points against Hull while Bevan French went over seven times last week. Olpherts scored twice in a win over Warrington last week and might have a point to prove on his return to the MKM. I’ll pay to see how often he crosses the try line here.

Warrington Wolves vs Hull KR (20.00)
The other match sees two teams who were play-off outfits last term but who are on the outside looking in meeting when the Warrington Wolves play host to the team who ended their campaign last season in Hull KR.
Both these sides have had a number of issues this season but importantly for Hull KR they beat Wakefield last week to all but secure another year of Super League. They could move to within a couple of points of the play-offs with a win here but I need to see much more from them before I trust them with my money. Warrington seem to take a step forwards and then three back at the minute and I can’t say I’m a lot more comfortable having them carrying my money either. I think the Wolves would win but whether they can cover eight points I’m less convinced but at the same time this has been such a bad season for the home team I wouldn’t be surprised if they lost either. I’ll sit this out.
