The first month of action in the Super League XXVII campaign draws to a close on Sunday afternoon when the four sides who are yet to take to the stage so do on what looks like it could be a very competitive day.
We have already had all the TV coverage we are going to get from this round of fixtures so it will be social media and radio commentaries to keep us updated here for those who are not able to get to either of the matches.
Huddersfield Giants vs Salford Red Devils (15.00)
The first game to kick off on Sunday afternoon sees two sides who lost their undefeated starts to the season last week and will be looking to get back to winning ways when the Huddersfield Giants host the Salford Red Devils at the John Smith’s Stadium.
The Giants were victorious over Toulouse Olympique and Hull KR in their opening two matches while the Red Devils took care of Castleford Tigers and Toulouse but both were well beaten last week – Huddersfield by Wigan Warriors and Salford by Hull FC. This should be a really good match not least for the Ian Watson factor in it with the Giants coach coming up against his former club. Both teams have good spines and dangers in the pack so I’m expecting a competitive tussle here. I think the odds disrespect Salford a little here but it is hard to have too much confidence in them after the beating they took last week. This match isn’t for me.

Castleford Tigers vs Hull FC (15.30)
The second match to kick off on Sunday afternoon is a Yorkshire derby of sorts as the Castleford Tigers go in search of their first win of the campaign when they play host to a Hull FC team who have begun their season very well.
There might be a Yorkshire derby element to this but there is certainly a former club one with Castleford having a large former Hull FC contingent at The Jungle these days, not least in their coach Lee Radford, who really needs to pick up a win soon. His side are winless in three outings and if we are being brutally honest they haven’t been factors in any of them so they will need an enormous improvement here. Hull FC have a pair of wins either side of a loss to St Helens but that certainly isn’t a bad result by any means. I took on the black and whites last week because of the absences they had and while Luke Gale missing out will impact on them, the return of Jake Connor to the squad makes a huge difference. They come off a brilliant win last week too. Castleford have already got missing players piling up from Danny Richardson in the halves to Adam Milner, Kenny Edwards and Liam Watts in the pack and Jake Mamo and Bureta Faraimo out back. That is a lot for a squad which had a large turnover in the winter to carry. Hull are missing some as well but their squad is deeper and they have winning form. I think they should win this one.
