Super League XXVIII – Saturday 25th March Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The latest leg of the Super League XXVIII season concludes on Saturday afternoon when the final two matches of the round take place on a day where four teams get to improve their positions with Easter fast approaching.

The first of the two matches will take place in front of the TV cameras while the second one will require the radio commentaries or social media updates in order for us to keep up to speed with everything going on if you are not going to the match.

Leeds Rhinos vs Catalans Dragons (13.00 – Channel 4)

The live match on Saturday afternoon comes from Headingley where the Leeds Rhinos will look to bounce back from that defeat to Castleford last weekend when they host the so far unbeaten Catalans Dragons.

The Rhinos have two wins and three defeats to their name this season but one of those wins was against Wakefield Trinity which really isn’t saying too much. The more appealing win was against St Helens but they were behind in that one until St Helens imploded with a pair of yellow cards and a red one. Leeds don’t look like they have got started to me this season and missing the likes of Ash Handley, Mikolaj Oledzki and James Bentley isn’t going to help their cause. Catalans on the other hand look the complete opposite of what I expected them to be at the beginning of the season. They might lack a bit of the flair they have had in previous seasons but they are playing really good rugby at the minute. You can pick holes in a couple of their wins but the win away to Wigan was particularly appealing and with Mitchell Pearce, Matthieu Laguerre and Matt Whitley all returning here the Dragons should only look better in this match. Throw in the Kruise Leeming sudden departure and the vibes really aren’t good around Leeds at the minute. I think Catalans are a more than fair bet to beat them here.

Hull FC vs Leigh Leopards (15.00)

The final match of the weekend comes from the MKM Stadium where Hull FC look to get back to winning ways when they take on the Leigh Leopards who sit one place above the Black and Whites in the league table heading into the clash.

Hull FC looked like they were going to go alright this season when they opened up with a pair of victories but even in those wins there were frailties and they have been royally exposed in recent times, not least when Salford took them to the cleaners a couple of weeks ago. Leigh Leopards have been very competitive on their return to Super League and their win over St Helens three weeks ago suggests that they need to be taken seriously even though they have one more defeat than they have wins to their credit this term. There is talent in this Hull FC side but there is a serious vulnerability to them at the same time and you’re kind of guessing which side of them will win through. This one is a pretty easy one to leave alone.
