The Super League XXX weekend continues on Friday evening with a double header of action that sees four potential Grand Final winners on show in what should be a really good night of rugby league given the quality on show.
The beauty of the Super League this term is that we can enjoy both of these matches on the TV if you don’t have a ticket to either, although you will need a couple of devices as annoyingly they kick off at the same time.
Wigan Warriors vs Leigh Leopards (20.00 – Sky Sports Action)
The main game in terms of the TV coverage comes from the Brick Community Stadium where the Wigan Warriors will host their local rivals Leigh Leopards in what is a repeat of the opening match of the campaign where the Leopards won 1-0.
It would be a surprise if this one is as close and as low scoring as that one because Wigan Warriors are fully up to speed now but they have had two weeks off since the Magic Weekend where they were run close by the Warrington Wolves so Leigh might have been getting them at the right time had it not been for the fact that the Leopards were in Challenge Cup action last week. They have to bounce back from the loss to the Wolves not just physically but mentally too as they know they have missed out on a chance of going to Wembley. The fierceness of this rivalry from the Leigh side might help them with that but they do have one or two injuries to contend with. I would expect Wigan to win here but the better bet for me is for there to be less than 40.5 points. Clearly this was covered in the opening week of the season when the game actually ended 0-0 after 80 minutes which means that the last four matches between the two have had under 40.5pts. Two sides who are built on a strong defensive foundation compete here so we shouldn’t be surprised that their matches are often low scoring and this promises to be another such battle. I’ll play the under here.

Leeds Rhinos vs Hull FC (20.00 – Sky Sports+)
The other match on Friday night takes us to Headingley for the clash between two sides who are putting on much better campaigns than they managed last term when the Leeds Rhinos play host to Hull FC.
These two went into the weekend fourth and fifth in the table and will be looking to consolidate their position in the top six as we head towards the halfway point. Leeds Rhinos welcome some back some big hitters from injury for this one with Cameron Smith, Ryan Hall and Brodie Croft all returning and that should boost them. Brad Fash is expected to return for the black and whites here but they are without one or two too many forwards for my liking. Both sides will at least be fresh after having last weekend off and Hull FC probably needed that break having lost their last three heading into it, including a really disappointing defeat to the Huddersfield Giants at the Magic Weekend. Leeds had a good win over St Helens at St James’ Park and are probably the more progressive side of the two at the minute but you couldn’t exactly call them consistent. Hull FC tempt me with a 12 point start but they have one or two injuries too many for comfort so I’ll tentatively leave this one alone and see if it follows the form or whether Hull FC can prove themselves again.
