Super League XXX – Friday 27th June Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

Another weekend of Super League XXX action kicks off on Friday night with two matches taking place which could have a significant impact on the overall campaign as we move deeper into the second half of the regular season.

As ever with this Super League campaign, both of the matches are available to watch live on TV if you are not attending one of them, although you will need two devices to watch both as the kick offs clash unfortunately.

Leeds Rhinos vs Leigh Leopards (20.00 – Sky Sports Action)

The main TV coverage comes from Headingley on Friday evening for the clash with third spot in the table on the line when the Leeds Rhinos go up against the current occupants of that position in the form of the Leigh Leopards.

The Rhinos go into this match off the back of a defeat to St Helens last week where their coach Brad Arthur was scathing of the attitude of his side and you would imagine that words like that will have brought about a determination in training this week and the motivation to come out all guns blazing here. The Leopards will have to withstand that potential storm but they certainly have the defensive qualities to do that and they head to Headingley off the back of three straight wins, all away from home which bodes well. If there is a slight concern for Leigh here it would come in the fact that they were in France last weekend but it would be a surprise if that is a huge deciding factor here. Leeds won both meetings last term despite being the inferior team in the league table and it is hard to disagree that they have improved this term whereas Leigh are getting results but to the naked eye don’t look quite as good. I think there will be a reaction from Leeds here and while Leigh will be game opponents I fancy the Rhinos to cover a four point start.

Hull KR vs Wakefield Trinity (20.00 – Sky Sports+)

The other match to take place on Friday night does so at Craven Park where the league leaders Hull KR will look to extend their advantage at the top of the table to six points when they play host to a Wakefield Trinity side who can return to the top six should they pull off an upset.

You have to give Wakefield a lot of credit. They have been more than competitive on their return to the Super League and whether they secure a spot in the top six come the end of the season or not, they have shown that they belong at this level once again. Hull KR are a bit of a machine at the minute though. We are 15 rounds into the Super League campaign and they have lost just once and around that they have won the Challenge Cup too and if anything they are getting stronger as their rivals begin to show signs of weakness. Wakefield have an ability to put points on the board, they have the fourth best attack in the league, but they do leak points too. Wakefield stunned Wigan last week and you would imagine that will give them the confidence to throw the ball around a bit but they’ll do well to keep this Hull KR charge at bay. You can get a point line of 44.5 for this one and when you consider that the Robins have put up 31 points or more in their last six outings, then in conditions ideal for free flowing rugby that total could be covered with a fair bit to spare.
