The Super League XXX weekend concludes on Sunday afternoon when the final two matches of the round take place on a day where two sides who will have their eyes on the top six this term meet along with a couple of strugglers.
As ever with the Super League these days, both matches are live on the TV for us to enjoy and unlike earlier in the weekend we don’t need multiple devices to watch them because they will be played one after the other.
Wakefield Trinity vs Warrington Wolves (15.00 – Sky Sports+)
The opening match of the day takes us to Belle Vue for the clash between Wakefield Trinity and the Challenge Cup finalists Warrington Wolves with the winners ending the weekend inside the top six and the losers looking in from the outside.
Wakefield are enjoying a more than acceptable first season back in the Super League and a win here to move them into the top six heading towards the halfway point in the season would cap that off nicely. They should be well rested having had last weekend off and can give this a real good go. Warrington aren’t having the sort of season they would have been expected to have off the back of a much more positive campaign last term but they have made it through to the Challenge Cup final which should have given them a boost. That does mean they won’t be as fresh as their opponents though and the Wolves are really starting to have to do it tough with injuries. Matty Ashton is the latest casualty to the Warrington injury curse and you just wonder when the dam is going to break in terms of being competitive with so many players less than 100%. That all makes me think that Wakefield are worth a bet here. They have already been to the Halliwell Jones Stadium and won this season and when you consider how fresh they will be and how closer to their strongest 13 they will be I think odds against is perfectly acceptable for a bet on Trinity here.

Castleford Tigers vs Salford Red Devils (17.30 – Sky Sports+)
The final match of the weekend comes from The Jungle where two of the bottom three in the table face off when the Castleford Tigers host rock bottom and troubled Salford Red Devils with both teams looking to pick up a much-needed two points.
Salford are in disarray at the minute. Their off-field issues are well-documented and that has had a major impact to what they have done on the field. They have one win from 10 matches but the margins of their defeats is the big issue. In those 10 outings they have managed just 59 points and in three of the last five they haven’t scored a point at all. At the other end they are averaging 39 points against them per game and it would be a big surprise if they are not turned over again. Castleford aren’t exactly reliable though and are very much a work in progress. Given where they are this season they will probably just want the win and move on here rather than necessarily run up the score and that puts me off getting involved in this one. The handicap line is around 14 points which most teams are covering against Salford these days but this is a Tigers team who are only averaging 14.4 points per game this term. I’ll leave this one alone.
