The Hundred 2023 – London Spirit vs Trent Rockets Tips, TV and Betting Preview

With the weekend having arrived we have another double header in The Hundred on Saturday with the first half of it coming from Lord’s where the London Spirit take on the Trent Rockets in a match which takes us to the halfway mark in the group phase.

These two have been frustrated by the weather and narrow defeats so far in the competition and neither will want to lose this one else they could be in some bother when it comes to making it into the top three at the end of the season.

Where to watch

The match will be shown live and in full on the Sky Cricket channel in the UK with the build-up beginning at 2pm ahead of a 2.30pm start.

London Spirit

Having had two of their matches washed out in the competition, the last thing the London Spirit needed was to lose their only completed match in narrow fashion in a game they probably should have won. In fairness, the loss to the Oval Invincibles doesn’t look anywhere near as bad as it did at the time with that team now topping the table and beginning to live up to their name, but the Spirit will know it was one which got away from them.

Since then the weather really hasn’t done much for the Spirit. To be fair, it probably did them a favour when it washed out the match against the Manchester Originals which looked to be getting away from them but then they were in control against the Southern Brave only for the weather to scupper their hopes of a win. Spirit don’t need to panic but they really don’t want to be dropping this match too and leaving themselves with plenty to do.

Trent Rockets

The Trent Rockets don’t seem like they have got their season going really. They were involved in the opening match of the tournament 11 nights ago but have only played twice since then and one of those was washed out before they could get onto the field of play. The other one they will be kicking themselves at going down to the Northern Superchargers when they had got themselves into a winning position but in the main the defending champions haven’t done too badly so far.

This is a strong Trent Rockets side. They are leaving out some decent cricketers and their top seven is as fearsome as anything you will find in the competition when it is in form. Their openers haven’t really clicked into gear just yet which will be a concern but if class comes to the fore then it shouldn’t be long before they do. The Rockets have a good variety in their attack and can be devastating up front with the ball, as we saw in the previous match.

Key Players

You would imagine if the London Spirit are to win this match then Adam Rossington might need to get them off to a decent start. He was in good touch in the loss to the Invincibles and will hope his rhythm hasn’t been ruined in the meantime.

Sam Hain looks in absolutely superb form for the Trent Rockets. He really should be batting much higher than he is given the form he is in but it is a sign of how strong the Rockets are that he can’t get in any higher.

Betting

I like the boundaries here. Limited overs matches at Lord’s rarely take place in the middle of the square so there is every chance that there will be a part of the ground which can be targeted. There is no shortage of batting depth in these two teams and a 34.5 boundaries line isn’t especially high based on what we’ve seen in the main in this tournament this week. I’ll play the over.

Tips

Back Over 34.5 boundaries for a 3/10 stake at 1.83 with William Hill
