UEFA Nations League 2022-23 – Thursday 22nd September Matches Tips and Betting Preview

The penultimate round of matches in the UEFA Nations League group phase continues on Thursday evening when another bunch of games get played out on what is a pretty important night for those involved.

We are at the stage of the competition where promotion and relegation is in the spotlight as well as the play-off spots in Euro 2024 qualifying that come to the successful teams so there is plenty riding on things here.

League A

Two groups play their penultimate match on Thursday evening which means we get to see some leading lights on show. Amazingly France are staring down the relegation route in this group but they can give their survival hopes a boost with a win against Austria which will lift them off the bottom of the table. In the other match Denmark can secure a semi-final spot if they can win away to Croatia. The other group on show is Group 4 where the Netherlands will be looking to move towards the fringes of the semi-finals when they make the trip to Poland. Belgium will look to deny them a spot in the last four when they host a Wales side who could be relegated if they lose.

League C

Two groups are in action in League C on Thursday evening with the first of those being Group 1 where Turkey can secure their promotion back to League B if they can avoid defeat when they play host to second placed Luxembourg. The other match could see Lithuania head into the relegation play-off if they fail to beat a Faroe Islands who will secure their League C status with a win. Group 3 is the other group on show on Thursday and it gets underway with the early kick off where Kazakhstan go for promotion. They will secure that if they can see off Belarus at home. Any other result keeps Slovakia in the group providing they can see off Azerbaijan.

League D

The top two meet in Group 1 which is the only group on show on Thursday evening. That match sees Latvia looking to secure their place in the promotion play-off when they host Moldova. Latvia win the group with a draw so the visitors have to win this match to keep their hopes alive. The other match in the group sees Liechtenstein, who are yet to pick up a point in the group so far, hosting an Andorra team who will be looking for a second win in five matches.

Betting

I’ll go with one bet over the course of Thursday and it comes in the first match to kick off as Kazakhstan take on Belarus in a match the home side will know if they come out on top in they will win the group and seal promotion to League B which would be quite some achievement. Kazakhstan have only dropped two points in the Nations League this season and while they came in Belarus in the reverse fixture, it needed a late equaliser for Belarus to get that point.

Belarus are still without a win in this Nations League group and going away to Kazakhstan where the home side have a perfect record so far in the campaign is not going to be easy. They go there without Vitaly Lisakovich as well which is only going to make the task even harder. Kazakhstan have already beaten Azerbaijan and Slovenia at home in this campaign and they are both better than Belarus so at even money I’ll back the home side with the draw cover here.
