The second half of matches in the last 16 of the two singles draws at the US Open takes place on the three main show courts at Flushing Meadows on Monday and at the end of the two sessions of play we will know the quarter final line up for the last Grand Slam of the year.
We saw some excellent tennis in New York on Sunday and when you look down the schedule for Monday it would be crazy to think that we are not in for another exciting day of action, especially as we are getting nearer the business end of the tournament.
Arthur Ashe Stadium
As has been the case throughout the tournament so far, we have two matches in the day session and two matches in the night one on the main court and we get underway in a really entertaining opening half of the action with Felix Auger-Aliassime going up against Andrey Rublev. When they are done the hugely anticipated clash between the former champions Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka round off what should be a fantastic day session.
The night session looks just as tasty and we start with the defending champion Jannik Sinner looking to make it through to the quarter final once again. He takes on a dangerous Alexander Bublik who you would expect to be outgunned but who can beat anyone on his day. When they are done the action concludes with the women where Beatriz Haddad Maia will look to take care of the Wimbledon finalist Amanda Anisimova, who is really beginning to become a major player in the Grand Slams.

Louis Armstrong Stadium & Grandstand
Usually the remainder of the tournament would take place on the Louis Armstrong Stadium at this stage of the fortnight but the appearance of Venus Williams in the women’s doubles means that we have three matches on the second court and one singles match taking place over on the Grandstand. The first three games on the Louis Armstrong Stadium are singles ones and we start with Alex de Minaur looking to make another quarter final when he takes on Leandro Reidi. The second match on this court sees Ekaterina Alexandrova taking on the Wimbledon champion Iga Swiatek before the singles action closes with Lorenzo Musetti looking to make the quarter final once again when he meets Jaume Munar. Over on the Grandstand, Marta Kostyuk faces Karolina Muchova in what should be a cracking contest.
Betting
I’m really looking forward to the action on Monday but in terms of bets I’m struggling to find too much but I have to get involved in Naomi Osaka at odds against to see off Coco Gauff in what should be a belting clash. Both these women are top class and know how to win this tournament having done it in the past, twice in the case of Osaka, but I just can’t get away from the struggles that seem to descend on the Gauff serve, especially when someone is going to overpower it at the other end of the court.
That will certainly be the case with Osaka, who is probably under less pressure to deliver here than Gauff. Gauff wants to be the best in the world whereas you get the impression that Osaka is quite content just to be playing tennis at this level again given the struggles she has had since her last Grand Slam win. We saw in Montreal that the Japanese ace is back to close to where she was in her heyday and that level is certainly good enough to get her involved in the Gauff service games and if Osaka breaks that part of the Gauff game down I expect her to come out on top here.
Tips
Back N.Osaka to beat C.Gauff for a 3/10 stake at 2.20 with William Hill
