We have a full round of matches in the Vitality Blast on Friday night with all but two of the counties on show on an evening where we could see plenty of movement across both of the league tables as we head towards the end of the opening quarter of the campaign.
Once again the Blast is up against international action which means that the TV attention is elsewhere, however if you do have a bet on a match and wish to follow it each game will have a stream provided by the home county.
North Group
Lancashire head up the North Group but they are not in action on Friday night which means that Northamptonshire have the chance to move to the top of the table when they make the trip to New Road to take on a Worcestershire side who have a win and a loss to their name so far. Leicestershire Foxes are the other team in the section with more than one win to date and they’ll be looking to consolidate their position in the top four when they host Durham at Grace Road. Two sides yet to pick up a win meet at Edgbaston when the Birmingham Bears welcome Yorkshire to town while the other match in this group will see local rivals Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire facing off at the County Ground.

South Group
Hampshire are the early pacesetters in a South Group table which is just sorting itself out after a slow opening to the schedule. They have won both of their matches and now host the champions Gloucestershire who are yet to win after two games. Sussex and Somerset are the two other perfect sides in the competition. One of them will lose that record though because they meet each other at Hove. Kent are the other unbeaten team in the group and they host a Surrey side who now only have one win from three and will be keen for their batting to get going at Canterbury. Essex have made a dreadful start to the campaign and will look to rectify that when they travel to Cardiff to take on a competitive Glamorgan outfit.
Betting
There isn’t a huge amount that I like over the course of the night with some indifferent weather making its way across the UK not exactly helping the decision making but I think the match between Sussex and Somerset could be closer than the odds suggest. Both teams have started the season well but Somerset are having to do without three players in Tom Banton, Sean Dickson and James Rew. The first of those three feels significant given that he could have bashed Ollie Robinson off his length.
Sussex were my outright pick before a ball was bowled in this competition and I haven’t seen anything from them to change my mind. They bat deep and they have a lot of bowling options so if someone does go around the park then they can just use one of the other options. Sussex have scored well in both matches whereas the Somerset batting hasn’t really fired up like it can. If this is won with the death bowling, which it could easily be, then Sussex have more than a sniff and at 6/5 I think they’re the value in this one.
