Vitality T20 Blast 2025 – Glamorgan vs Surrey Tips and Betting Preview

The Vitality Blast continues on Tuesday evening when one match in the competition takes place as we go to the South Group for the domestic T20 clash between Glamorgan and the powerhouses of Surrey.

The IPL final and the last ODI get the TV attention on Tuesday evening but if you have a bet and want to watch the progress of it you will be able to do so if you load up the live stream which Glamorgan will provide for us.

Glamorgan

Glamorgan have only played one match in this competition so far but it was a successful outing and they will be looking to double their tally of wins. This hasn’t been their best format in recent times but they head into the campaign as the 50 over champions so they should have a lot to change to at the very least be competitive in this campaign. Getting off to a good start is always helpful in this, especially with a few days of rain on the horizon, so a second win here would be handy.

Glamorgan bowled really well in their win over Middlesex. At no stage did Middlesex get away from them and it meant that there wasn’t really any pressure on their batting. It is fair to say that the bowlers will face a sterner test here as this wicket is likely to play better than the one at Northwood and the Surrey batting has much more depth, but if they can stay in the game then they have enough players who can get the job done.

Surrey

As ever when a competition begins, Surrey were one of the favourites to come out on top in the campaign so an immediate dent to their hopes when they went down in their only match to date was a big of a spanner in the works that they wouldn’t have wanted. They were beaten by Somerset in Taunton, which in isolation isn’t the worst result of all time but the fact that they weren’t able to impose themselves on the contest would have been a worry.

Only Jason Roy looked in any touch with the bat and although Surrey were missing the likes of Jamie Smith and Will Jacks to England duty, the top six had a strong look to it so that was a concern. The bowling unit plugged away but it never looked like they had enough runs to defend and a couple of big overs at the right time allowed Somerset to cruise home. Surrey will be looking for a much better all-round showing here and that they naturally improve for the run.

Key Players

Mason Crane was the man who set the match up for Glamorgan against Middlesex when he took 4-28 in his four overs and you would imagine he’ll need another good spell here if the Welsh side are to contain Surrey.

Only Jason Roy got going with the bat in the first game for Surrey. It didn’t make a huge amount of sense that he batted at three and Ollie Pope opened but it worked for him and Surrey might need it to work for them again here.

Betting

It is still a little early in the competition to judge either of these sides and with some rain having done the rounds in Cardiff earlier in the day the toss might just be a little too relevant for me to get involved in the match betting until we know who wins it so it might be that the better way to play this one is to head to the side markets and get stuck in there. The market I like is the performance of Sam Curran where the line is 45.5.

He has been elevated to Surrey captain for this competition so he is always going to be a big player for them. That was the case even in defeat in their opening match on Friday night where he batted four and brought himself into the attack as the first change. He bowled over 18 when the winning runs were scored so it looks like he has designated himself as a death bowler which will do his point scoring potential no harm and of course he will be in catching positions too. He didn’t play this fixture last year but he did play it two years ago where he clubbed 66 from 29 balls and picked up two wickets for a total of 116 with a catch. In the reverse meeting that season he totalled 79 points and off the back of a 62 point showing in Taunton on Friday night I like the over for the all-rounder here.
