Vitality T20 Blast 2025 – Nottinghamshire vs Worcestershire Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Vitality T20 Blast continues on Saturday with one match in the competition as we head towards the conclusion of the opening quarter of the campaign in the North Group when Nottinghamshire welcome Worcestershire to Trent Bridge.

Three sides have started this competition well and these two are immediately in behind them so although there are 10 matches to go after this one, the winner will be able to steal a march on the other in the race for the top four.

Where to watch

The majority of the TV coverage is based around the women’s ODI on Saturday but this match follows that so it will be shown on Sky Sports Cricket with a short build-up before the 7pm start.

Nottinghamshire

It has been a bit of an up and down run for Nottinghamshire so far this season. They have played three matches so far and to their credit they have won two of them but in between those wins they were well beaten by Lancashire. That doesn’t look a terrible result but it is a sign that this isn’t a Nottinghamshire side that is as strong as previous versions of it. We knew that anyway as it is obvious on paper and that might keep expectations realistic this term.

The one thing you would say about this Outlaws side is they haven’t really clicked with the ball yet. They have done most of their better work with the bat but when you look on paper they look to have a varied attack which should go well, especially in the North Group. Twice they have conceded more than 200 in just three innings and that needs addressing if they are going to progress in the competition. The batting is holding up for now but they will want their bowlers to join the party.

Worcestershire

Worcestershire have the opposite record to Nottinghamshire. They have gone loss, win, loss to open up their campaign. To be fair to them, the two defeats were against Lancashire and Northamptonshire who are the top two in the table at the present time so it might be that they have hit a bit of a rough time with the schedule. They were relatively competitive in both of those matches which bodes well but there is pressure on them here because if they go 1-3 they will have work to do.

Going into the competition I thought Worcestershire looked a batter light and could do with a finisher to an innings. I haven’t changed my mind on that but this is a team who have spent on two overseas bowlers so that was probably going to be the case. The problem with that is they have conceded 176 and 190 in the two matches they have lost so those two gun bowlers need to lead the team quickly. There is stardust in the batting but one or two individuals will need to have big seasons if Worcestershire are going to qualify.

Key Players

Jack Haynes goes up against his former club here but he does so in pretty good form having opened the competition with scores of 89*, 23 and 43. He has lots of class and if he goes well here then Nottinghamshire should too.

Ben Dwarshuis is the man that Worcestershire have invested in to bowl the key overs and he has developed a trait of clean hitting at the back end of an innings. It is hard to see Worcestershire winning if he doesn’t have a big impact on the match.

Betting

I am always a little concerned when a team gets a little way into a competition and only four or five batters have had more than one innings. This tournament has been going on for just over a week so nobody below number five for Nottinghamshire has had more than one bat in the better part of two weeks when you consider that there was a couple of days between the end of the Championship action and the start of the Blast.

The majority of the Worcestershire team have batted in their three matches and while that would suggest that they haven’t batted as well, there isn’t too much in the scores that suggest that. That means if Worcestershire can get a couple of early wickets they are only two away from getting into the players who haven’t seen much of the crease in recent times which could open an end up. Nottinghamshire haven’t been tight with the ball so if Worcestershire start well with the ball they might find the job is theirs to complete.
