Vitality T20 Blast 2025 – Wednesday 11th June Matches Tips, TV and Betting Preview

The Vitality Blast is back after a couple of days off on Wednesday when we have a triple header of action in the North Group on a day where the leaders could make a big move and five sides will look to start the quest to chase them down.

Although the World Test Championship final has the TV attention during the day, these matches begin once play has closed at Lord’s and so we have one game on TV and the other two will be available to view with the live stream the home county offers.

Northamptonshire vs Birmingham Bears (18.30 – Sky Cricket)

The TV cameras will make their way to Wantage Road on Wednesday evening for the clash between the North Group leaders Northamptonshire and the team who are often towards the top of this section in the form of the Birmingham Bears.

Northamptonshire have played five matches in this competition so far and they have won the lot and were they to win here then they would be closing in on a quarter final spot with more than half of the group stage still to play. Birmingham Bears had a tough start to their campaign with a pair of defeats in their first two matches but as players have returned to the squad they have begun to build up a head of steam with successive wins so we have two sides who are confident battling it out in what should be a cracking match here. I’m struggling to decide on a match bet here. If I was forced into it I would back Birmingham but it is hard to go against a side who have won five on the spin and who in truth haven’t really been troubled in those matches. The way in that I’ve found is to take Saif Zaib to be the leading Northamptonshire batter. He smacked 86* in no time at all in this fixture last season which is encouraging. He hasn’t really had much time in the middle in the competition this term because he has dropped down to play the finisher role but Birmingham have their star new ball bowlers back now so hopefully they can get into the Northants order and Zaib has a much bigger role to play here. Even without much time in the middle he has registered scores of 26* and 23* so he is going well and looks overpriced at 10/1.

Durham vs Derbyshire (18.30)

Away from the TV cameras, two sides who haven’t made the start to their domestic 20 over campaign that they would have wanted meet up at the Riverside where Durham play host to a Derbyshire side who are the only ones without a win in the group to date.

Derbyshire have played four matches in the competition and haven’t won any of them and with seven wins usually the minimum number required to make it out of the group stage, if they come out dry from this one they are already in massive danger of running out of games. Durham haven’t clicked like they can yet either with one win from their three matches so when you assess the situation, this feels like a huge game for both sides. This is another tricky one to get a feel for but this time for the opposite reason. Neither team are what you would call reliable so far. I think it is fair to say that Durham are much the better side on paper but they are short enough for a side who have only won once this term. This is an easy one to sit out.

Nottinghamshire vs Yorkshire (18.30)

The other match on Wednesday evening comes from Trent Bridge where two of the bigger counties meet in another clash which has two sides who haven’t started how they would have wanted to meeting when Nottinghamshire host Yorkshire.

Nottinghamshire have a couple of wins and a couple of defeats to their name this season. Things began well for them when they chased down a crazy score of 226 to see off the Birmingham Bears in their first game but they have gone loss, win, loss since then. If that sequence continues then they will win this match but their bowling is a major cause for concern right now having conceded over 200 in three of their four matches. Yorkshire have won just one of their first four games and have a similar problem with their bowling attack going around the park a couple of times, although the way Headingley is shaped these days that probably isn’t the negative that it might have been. Yorkshire got off the mark last time out and will be looking to build on that at Trent Bridge. The fact that they have Will Sutherland back makes me think that Yorkshire could be the value here. I just can’t be having this Nottinghamshire bowling unit at all and if Dawid Malan, who knows this ground well from representing Trent Rockets in The Hundred, or Adam Lyth get going they could put it to the sword. It is a baking hot day across the UK on Wednesday so the fact that Yorkshire can offer 12+ overs of spin is an advantage too and against a team who can’t seem to stem the flow of runs and who look a genuine batter light too, Yorkshire are the pick for me.
