The WDF World Darts Championship continues inside the Lakeside Country Club on Wednesday night when the second round finishes for the men and carries on for the women on another good looking evening of action.
We move to S4C from here on in so hopefully the coverage will be much better and with title contenders in both draws taking to the stage we should get an elevation in quality as well as better viewing on top.
First Two Matches
We were due to have six matches in this session as we have done all week so far but the illness picked up by Andy Davidson meant that he has pulled out so Jeff Springer Jr will get a bye through to the third round. That leaves with two matches to take is to the halfway point of the evening. The Swiss number one Thomas Junghans will open up the night when he takes on Stephen Rosney who impressed in the opening round. When they are done we go over to the women’s draw as the finalist of last year, Sophie McKinlay, opens up her campaign to go one better when she meets the young star Paige Pauling in a good looking match.

Later Three Matches
The second half of the evening looks very tasty it has to be said. It gets underway with the sixth seed David Fatum going up against the youngster Jenson Walker. The second women’s match of the night is the tie of the round as Deta Hedman starts another tilt at finally getting her hands on this trophy when she faces a Mikuru Suzuki who has done that twice already in her career. The final match of a very good night of darts sees the second seed Jason Brandon facing the new tournament favourite, teenager Mitchell Lawrie, in what should be a belter of a contest.
Betting
Jenson Walker was impressive in the first round and I would expect the youngster to go from strength to strength after getting his first win on this stage. He laboured a little bit on the doubles in that opening game but his scoring power earned him 30 darts at a double in 13 legs of darts but if he relaxes now that he has a win under his belt then I would expect that to improve and then he becomes a very worthy favourite in his match with David Fatum.
Fatum has plenty of experience but this is his debut in this tournament so he is entitled to feel a few nerves and up against a player who will put it on him right from the start that doesn’t feel like an ideal combination. Walker averaged 99.23 with his first nine darts in the opening round so he has plenty of scoring power, as his 19 tons, 10 140s and one 180 shows us so if that doubling does stand up then I fancy Walker to cruise through.

Back J.Walker (-1.5 sets) to beat D.Fatum for a 3/10 stake at 1.83 with Bet365
