West Indies vs England – 4th ODI Betting Preview

We know that we are guaranteed a decider in the ODI series between West Indies and England and on Wednesday we will find out who will head into the last match with the lead in proceedings after match three was washed out on Monday.

That rain affected affair means the series is locked at 1-1 heading into the second game in Grenada on Wednesday, with the winners of this fourth ODI knowing that they will be guaranteed a share of the spoils at the very least.

West Indies

We can’t really add a huge amount to what we covered in the previous game in truth. West Indies had named an unchanged side which was to be expected, and if they can improve in the field then they are going to be a tough nut to crack over these two matches. The big advantage they have here is if they rain gets involved again and shortens the match they are a match for anyone over the 20 over format.

I sense that the longer this series is going on, and the longer they remain close to England in it, the more they are going to fancy their chances of causing what would be a bigger upset than the one they delivered in the Test matches. Make no mistake about it, West Indies could easily come out of this series with something now.

England

I would imagine England will be the most disappointed of the two sides after the washout in the previous match. They will probably be smarting from their collapse in Barbados to hand West Indies the second match of the series and should be chomping at the bit to put things right. If they do bat well then we saw in the first game and for most of the second one that they are much the better team here.

England will know that they need to keep mixing things up with the ball because if you allow this West Indies batting line up to get set you have major problems. The good thing for them now is they have two guaranteed competitive matches to use to further lay down a marker ahead of the World Cup, which they are favourites to win this summer.

Team News

West Indies named an unchanged side for the third game before the rain arrived but they won’t be unchanged here as Andre Russell is in the squad and available. He will replace Carlos Brathwaite, unless the rain that has been around means West Indies only play one spinner.

England were forced to rest Ben Stokes in the previous game but he is said to be over his ankle issue so Alex Hales’ reprieve in the side is a short lived one. Chris Woakes replaced Tom Curran on Monday and is expected to remain in.

Betting

A theme of the series so far has been the sixes that have been hit and I’m not seeing anything in this fourth match to suggest that the line is right here. There is talk that the boundaries are coming in to accommodate for where the rain water has been dumped so as long as the wicket players as well as it looks we are in for another festival of big hitting.

The line for this match is 14.5 which was covered with ease on both occasions in Barbados. Throw Andre Russell into the mix for this match and the likelihood of it being covered is even higher. I’m more than happy to take the over once again, especially if the boundaries do come in. There isn’t many boundaries in the world that can contain the calypso West Indian style and England hit big too. Over for me.
