A frustrating series between West Indies and Pakistan draws to a close on Tuesday when the fourth and final T20 match will be played out in Guyana. This series has been impacted heavily by the weather which means there has only been one completed game so far so both will be hoping the skies above are kinder to them.
Pakistan won that completed match so they know they can’t lose the series but they will be eager to get back on the pitch to continue their preparations for the World T20 later in the year. The same goes for West Indies who have to win this to share the series.
West Indies
There isn’t much to say that we didn’t already when previewing the previous match that was completely washed out. If the rain has done anything then it might have given them time to take stock and come up with a plan to build their innings better with the bat. The heavier the conditions are the less likely they are to smash the ball to all parts so they are probably going to need something different here.
It might also have given them the chance to get those who have been injured during the series back up to speed so we might see West Indies at full strength here. That will be a boost because you get the feeling that if they are going to level the series they will need everyone performing to the maximum given that conditions here aren’t in the favour of their strength, which usually comes in the form of their batsmen.
Pakistan
Pakistan go into this match knowing they can’t lose the series but I’m sure they would have given that security up for being able to play all the matches because the conditions in Guyana are very similar to the ones they will face out in the UAE when the World T20 begins so reacquainting themselves with them would have been of much more use to them. They can’t help the weather though but they can take confidence from winning the only match so far.
The one thing you would say about Pakistan is that they weren’t totally at their best in that match. They fell away a little with the bat after the rain delay so in better conditions there is probably more to come from them too. I wouldn’t expect them to go about their cricket any differently here partly because they don’t need to but if there is a slight improvement on that completed match performance they are going to be tough to beat.

Team News
Lendl Simmons and Evin Lewis have both retired hurt in this series but the cancelled previous game might have given them enough time to shake off those issues and take their place in the side for this final match of the series.
Azam Khan was ruled out of the second and third matches in the series but nothing was said about any availability for this final match of it so if he has recovered from injury he could come back into the side as he looks to establish himself in the lower order.
Betting
Without wishing to sound like a broken record, I’m a little surprised that we are still getting 6/5 on Pakistan to win based on what we’ve seen in the cricket that has been played in the series so far. They dominated the match that was completed and were on course to win another when the rain arrived so it doesn’t make a whole lot of sense that they are so big to come out on top in this final match of the series.
I keep on saying that conditions in Guyana suit Pakistan more than they do West Indies and you would imagine that they are only going to get more sluggish with the amount of rain that has clearly been around. They have a bowling attack to take advantage of that and a couple of classy batsmen who can perform without having to smash everything out of the park. I’m happy enough to back Pakistan to come out on top here.
