Wimbledon 2025 – Day 3 Tips and Betting Preview

The second round of the singles action gets underway at Wimbledon on Wednesday on a much cooler day weather wise but where the quality on show should continue to sizzle as it has done so far in the tournament.

We are back to the halves of the draw which competed on Monday which means that the standout attractions on the court are Aryna Sabalenka, Carlos Alcaraz, Madison Keys and Taylor Fritz among others.

Centre Court

Aryna Sabalenka was reduced to playing on Court 1 in her opening match but she opens up the schedule on Centre Court when she takes on the clean hitting Czech player Marie Bouzkova. There is only one men’s match on the main show court on Wednesday and it sees Carlos Alcaraz continuing his title defence when he takes on the British player Oliver Tarvet for whom the fairytale is likely to come to an end but it should be a great experience nevertheless. Another Briton rounds off the show on Centre Court when Emma Raducanu looks to cause an upset when she takes on the 2023 champion Marketa Vondrousova.

Court 1

There are two Brits on show over on Court 1 on Wednesday as well and one of those comes along in the opening match on the court when Cameron Norrie looks to take care of the seeded Frances Tiafoe. When they are done Katie Boulter will look to follow up her excellent win over Paula Badosa when she meets the lowly ranked Solana Sierra. It is the men who close off the show on Court 1 on Wednesday when the American number one Taylor Fritz takes on the Hertogenbosch champion Gabriel Diallo in what should be a big serving contest.

Court 2

Once again we have four matches taking place over on Court 2 and the first of those sees the Australian Open champion Madison Keys meeting Olga Danilovic in what could be a heavy hitting contest. When they are done another British player will be on show when Billy Harris faces off against Nuno Borges before the former Australian and US Open winner Naomi Osaka will look to make it into the third round when she faces Katerina Siniakova before we conclude the schedule on Court 2 with two unseeded players when the British player Arthur Fery meets Luciano Darderi.

Court 3

The schedule on Court 3 doesn’t look too bad either and it is yet another British player who gets the action underway when Sonay Kartal meets Viktoriya Tomora. When they are done Andrey Rublev will look to make it into the third round when he faces the South African player Lloyd Harris before the third match on the court sees the finalist of a year ago in Jasmine Paolini going up against Kamilla Rakhimova. The fourth and final match of the schedule on this part of the grounds will see Botic van de Zandschulp going up against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina.

Best of the Rest

There isn’t as many singles matches on the outside courts on Wednesday but there is plenty of doubles mixed in however some of the seeded players who survived the first round carnage to line up on the outside courts include Amanda Anisimova, Jiri Lehecka, Elina Svitolina, all of whom are on Court 12 as well as Karen Khachanov, Diana Shnaider and Felix Auger-Aliassime on Court 18. Leylah Fernandez, Linda Noskova, Beatriz Haddad Maia and Donna Vekic are also on show.

Men’s Betting

There is only the one bet which interests me in the men’s draw on Wednesday and it comes in the form of over 39.5 games between Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jan-Lennard Struff. Conditions are expected to be cooler on Wednesday but these two men have excellent serves which aren’t going to be broken very often. These two met in the Australian Open earlier in the year where we had four sets but they were all one-sided which Auger-Aliassime won.

We saw in the first round a reminder that FAA rarely wins matches in these tournaments easily when he needed 3hr45 and five sets to dispose of James Duckworth while Struff was in a relatively tight four-setter himself. I’m expecting to see tiebreaks in this one and I’m expecting it to be fairly tight with not much between them. I wouldn’t be at all surprised were this one to need a deciding set before it is settled but when it is I expect the games count to have reached 40 and more.

Women’s Betting

There is only one match that interests me in the women’s draw on Wednesday as well and that comes in the form of Naomi Osaka to get the better of Katerina Siniakova. To be fair, I might have given the Czech more than a sniff in this match had the schedule not gone against her but she had her first round match held over to the heat of Tuesday where it took nearly 2.5 hours to get rid of Qinwen Zheng. That is a decent win but backing that up barely 24 hours later will be tough.

Osaka has no such issues in that regard. Her straight sets opening round win was completed on the first day of the tournament so she was able to practice away from the intense heat on Tuesday and should be primed for this match. Osaka will find her groundstrokes are assisted by the firm courts and that bodes well. Siniakova has gone well on the grass this year but the three players who have beaten her were Anna Blinkova, Elena Rybakina and Jessica Pegula, all clean hitters and Osaka falls into that category. I think the Japanese star can come through here.
