World Cup Qualifying – Friday 7th October European Matches Betting Preview

The World Cup qualifying in the European region come thick and fast over the next few days with three more groups playing their latest match in their quests to qualify for the main event in Russia in 2018 on Friday night.

We saw some great matches and excellent action on Thursday night and with some of Europe’s powerhouses taking to the pitches around the continent on Friday we should be set for much more of the same.

Group A

Euro2016 hosts France are back on home soil for the first time in a competitive match since they lost the final of their own tournament back in July. They host Bulgaria at the Stade de France. Elsewhere in the group Sweden head to Luxembourg looking to build on a solid draw against the Dutch in their opening game while the Netherlands play host to Belarus.

Group B

All eyes will be on the European champions Portugal who have Cristiano Ronaldo back when they welcome Andorra to town in what should be something of a celebration for the Euro2016 winners. The other two matches see Euro2016 finalists Hungary and Switzerland meeting each other while Latvia host the Faroe Islands in the other game.

Group H

Belgium will be expected to come through this group and they face one of their tougher tests when they host Bosnia-Herzegovina although that is still a match they should win. Estonia welcome Gibraltar to town and Greece meet Cyprus in the other two matches in this section.

Betting

This isn’t the easiest card to bet on as there are a series of heavy favourites but most of the handicap lines look about right and I would be taking a chance on something I’m not entirely confident about if I took any of them. If I was to push the boat out there might be some upside in taking Estonia and Latvia but neither are favourites for football matches very often so I’m reluctant to do it.

Another handicap that interests me is the France one but at -2.25 it is just slightly too big as a Bulgaria goal could well scupper things. I do think France will score goals though and score plenty of them. Bulgaria have conceded a whopping 14 goals in their last three matches including three against Luxembourg which doesn’t bode well for them when facing this French attack.

With all that in mind I’m more comfortable taking over 3 goals here knowing that three goals in the game gets us our stake back but at the same time if Luxembourg can bang three in against Bulgaria, France should be able to better that. Any goals Bulgaria get against what is a young French defence would be a bonus but either way I’m confident we’ll get a positive return on the over 3 goals.
