The second round of the World Series of Darts Finals takes place in Amsterdam on Saturday evening on a night where the eight seeded players enter the fray for the first time this weekend as they battle for spots in the quarter final.
That means we get to see the likes of Michael van Gerwen, Gerwyn Price and the defending champion Jonny Clayton for the first time this week among others so the stature and profile of the event will immediately be raised.
First Four Matches
Usually the home stars are saved until the latter part of the evening but because of the quality that keeps on coming over the course of Saturday night that isn’t the case here. Dirk van Duivenbode will look to get the crowd into gear when he opens the show against Gary Anderson. When they are done James Wade will take the stage when he meets the American player Leonard Gates before a tasty looking clash between Joe Cullen and Dave Chisnall takes place. We head to the midway point in the evening with the number one seed Dimitri Van den Bergh taking to the stage when he meets a Ryan Joyce who was fortunate enough to make it through the opening round.

Later Four Matches
The second half of the evening is lit up with good looking action and it gets underway with the former world champion Gerwyn Price on show. He meets the Canadian player Matt Campbell who had a good win in the opening round. One of the ties of the second round takes place next when Michael van Gerwen meets the World Cup winner Damon Heta. The tie of the round is the penultimate match in the evening as Michael Smith meets Peter Wright in a repeat of the World Championship final from earlier in the year. The final match of the session sees Jonny Clayton beginning his title defence when he goes up against the UK Open champion Danny Noppert in another great looking match.
Betting
One of the better matches over the course of the evening is the repeat of The Masters final from earlier in the year as Joe Cullen takes on Dave Chisnall in a match bookmakers are having a hard time splitting the two contenders but Cullen won that final and he has won their other two meetings this year as well, the most recent one being in a European Tour semi-final earlier this month when he prevailed in a deciding leg. In fact, Cullen leads 6-1 over their career meetings.
Cullen arrives at this tournament in fine form. He had some decent spins without a title down under and then took down the European Tour title in Hungary at the start of the month before reaching the semi-final last weekend only to go down to Peter Wright who won the tournament. Chisnall does have the advantage of having played a match this weekend but it isn’t like Cullen is coming in here without any darts for the last month or so. Chisnall missed a lot of doubles against Jamie Hughes but wasn’t punished. I think Cullen is more likely to punish the misses and looks the bet here.
