Another Premier League weekend concludes on Sunday when the final two matches of the round are played out. We were treated to a thrilling Saturday in the top division and with the intrigue on the two matches on Sunday we should be set for plenty more entertainment.
We have two sides who are pushing for Champions League qualification on show in the two matches but the real focus may well be on the two teams who are fighting to avoid the drop who could seriously do with the points.
Arsenal vs Southampton
As they so often do Arsenal are finishing the season strongly with their improved Premier League form serving them well in the Europa League where they are on course to make the semi-finals. They now face a Southampton side who can come out of the relegation zone if they can find a win in this one.
I like Arsenal here I must admit. While it is a slight concern that they have the second leg of their Europa League tie in midweek, they are far enough clear in that to enable them to play a side strong enough to win this match, or to give them the very best chance at the very least.
Southampton were absolutely rancid at West Ham last week which does not bode well for them when they head to the Emirates where Arsenal are so strong. Something is going to have to have dramatically improved if Southampton are to be competitive in this. I don’t see it though. I expect Arsenal to win this one.

Chelsea vs West Ham
The second match of the day is a London derby when Chelsea host West Ham. Chelsea are drinking at the very last chance saloon in terms of making it back into the Champions League and must win here while a West Ham win should see them confirmed as a Premier League side next season.
It will be interesting to see how Chelsea approach this. Although they can still chase down Liverpool in the race for the top four you get the feeling they gave up on that a while back and that defeat to Tottenham could well have deflated them. They have now lost three of their last four although they were all to sides above them.
West Ham ended a poor trot when they took care of Southampton last week but they didn’t beat a whole lot in that match and will need a marked improvement if they are going to go on and win this match. They ship far too many goals on their travels too which doesn’t help their cause.
I think Chelsea will respond here especially with the emotion and feeling around the Bridge after the passing of Ray Wilkins and given the amount of goals that West Ham leak when they lose I fancy Chelsea can bag more than 2.5 goals in this one.
