The final day of the Sky Bet League 2 season has arrived and there is still plenty to be decided up and down the country on what could be a dramatic day of football in the basement division with all 24 sides in action.
We know the three sides will be automatically go up to League 1 next term but we have yet to see the final playoff place secured while at the other end it is one of two to join Chesterfield in the National League next season.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:
Barnet v Chesterfield
Cambridge United v Port Vale
Carlisle United v Newport County
Coventry City v Morecambe
Crewe Alexandra v Cheltenham Town
Exeter City v Colchester United
Forest Green Rovers v Grimsby Town
Lincoln City v Yeovil Town
Mansfield Town v Crawley Town
Notts County v Luton Town
Swindon Town v Accrington Stanley
Wycombe Wanderers v Stevenage
Big Matches
There are two huge matches in the division on Saturday. The biggest one is at The Hive where Barnet take on Chesterfield in a match the Bees have to win to have any chance of surviving. They then need Morecambe to lose at Coventry in the other big match of the day. As conspiracy theorists will no doubt have picked up on Morecambe need a point to survive and Coventry need a point to secure a playoff spot. I’ll leave the rest to the wandering minds!
Best of the Rest
In all likelihood the final playoff spot will come down to Lincoln City and Mansfield. The latter need the former to lose at home to Yeovil Town and then the Stags would need to beat Crawley to snatch a spot at the upcoming lottery. Any other combination of results and Lincoln will be three hours away from a second trip to Wembley this season having waited so long for their first.
Elsewhere the champions Accrington Stanley play their final match in League 2 at Swindon while the runners up Luton sign off away to Notts County who will surely have an eye on what is to come. The other promoted side, Wycombe Wanderers, will be partying at home to Stevenage.

Betting
This isn’t the best card to get stuck into unless you want to pile on the ever shortening draw at the Ricoh Arena. I’m effectively on that already having backed Barnet to be relegated so I’m happy to swerve that. I will finish the regular season with two bets though.
Joe Dunne was appointed Cambridge manager full time in midweek and I’m sure he will be out to prove he is the right man for the job with a final day win to send all the fans home happy and looking forward to the next season under his leadership. He has a great chance to do that too because Port Vale are one of the worst sides in the division away from home and with their safety secured they may not offer up much resistance. Cambridge have only lost five at home all season and I don’t expect Port Vale to leave with anything either.
I’m a little surprised that Accrington Stanley are odds against away to Swindon. I know its risky backing sides who are playing for nothing but I don’t think Stanley will want to end their best ever season with a defeat. Billy Kee will be eyeing up goals to keep the chasers at bay for the Golden Boot too so I’m expecting an Accrington win. Swindon have completely died on their arse with no wins in eight and only one in their last 11. Accrington are brilliant on the road and can finish off with a positive result.
