We enter the final quarter of the Sky Bet League 2 season on Saturday afternoon so the stakes are beginning to increase in the basement division. With Coventry in FA Cup action the 12 fixtures are reduced to 11 and with the leaders Luton Town also not playing the chasing pack have the chance to catch up a little.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows:
Barnet v Accrington Stanley
Cambridge United v Grimsby Town
Carlisle United v Chesterfield
Cheltenham Town v Wycombe Wanderers
Crawley Town v Lincoln City
Crewe Alexandra v Colchester United
Exeter City v Mansfield Town
Morecambe v Forest Green Rovers
Newport County v Notts County
Stevenage v Yeovil Town
Swindon Town v Port Vale
Big Matches
With Luton not in action there is a huge match at both ends of the table when Barnet host second placed Accrington Stanley with the visitors looking to move to within three points of the leaders ahead of a meeting with them next month. Wycombe in third will travel to Cheltenham looking to close the gap on Luton too. Two sides in the promotion shake up are Exeter and Mansfield and they meet at St James’ Park.
Best of the Rest
Notts County will look to push back into the top three when they head to Wales to take on a Newport side who will be looking to get back to form having slipped away from the play-off pack. Swindon in sixth host Port Vale while Lincoln City head to form horses Crawley in a big match. Morecambe host Forest Green in a battle that could have big implications at the foot of the table.

Betting
After a successful midweek I’m not going to push the boat out here. I’ll go with one match bet and add a value long term bet on top of that in what is going to be largely a quiet Saturday.
The match bet comes from the County Ground where there was a time this season that Swindon Town couldn’t buy a win on their own patch but those days look to be well behind us now as they have won their last four there, three of them without conceding a goal. Port Vale are the latest visitors to Wiltshire and they arrive in a slump of seven without a win and having lost their last four matches on the road. Swindon lost late on at Wycombe on Tuesday night but they put up a decent showing in the match and despite the defeat they are playing well. They can get back to winning ways on Saturday.
Crawley Town were the form horses going into the matches on Tuesday night. They took a bit of a beating at Luton Town but they are not the first to suffer that fate and they won’t be the last either but having got matches against the top two out of the way they can push on and race for the play-offs. A number of sides on the fringes of the play-offs have completely stalled while the pack is so tightly bunched that sides will be playing each other which will bring Crawley into play if they can go back on another winning run. They are five points off the top seven and with seven wins in nine they are in good touch. At 33/1 it is worth a dabble to see if they can be the side who come from the clouds to make the top seven.
