It might be international weekend but that does not mean that the action in League 2 stops. One match has been cancelled because of call ups and another has been pushed back to Sunday so that means we have 10 matches to enjoy on Saturday.
Among those we have a TV match to get stuck into in which my own side Luton are in action against Barnet. That is the late kick off but there are nine fixtures in the normal kick off slot before then.
Saturday’s fixtures are as follows: (3pm unless stated)
Carlisle United v Cambridge United
Coventry City v Grimsby Town
Crawley Town v Cheltenham Town
Exeter City v Swindon Town
Forest Green Rovers v Mansfield Town
Morecambe v Lincoln City
Newport County v Crewe Alexandra
Stevenage v Colchester United
Wycombe Wanderers v Port Vale
Luton Town v Barnet (5.15pm)
Big Matches
There is no doubt that the biggest match of the day comes at Kenilworth Road where the TV cameras will be enjoying Luton taking on bottom placed Barnet. Clearly Barnet need the points but Luton will go back to the top with a win so there is plenty at stake in that one. Exeter host Swindon in a clash of two sides desperate to put a run together for a late promotion charge. Wycombe will move into second for a few hours at least if they can see off Port Vale at Adams Park.
Best of the Rest
Crewe Alexandra will be looking to continue their move away from the danger zone when they head to Newport County where it is five quid to get in. Having been there last week that is a good £4.99 too much but that is for another day! Coventry and Mansfield will look to get closer to the promotion shake up when they host Grimsby and head to Forest Green Rovers respectively.

Betting
I’ll go with two over the course of the day on Saturday with the first one coming in the form of Coventry City. They host a Grimsby Town side without a win in 17 matches and look to be heading back to the National League and fast. Injuries are not helping the Mariners but even so their form is awful. There is a myth that Coventry aren’t good at home but the only two home matches they have failed to win since the end of November have been against the top two and they were even 2-0 up on Luton and should have won. They are good at home and if they are to push for promotion this is a match the Sky Blues simply must win. I think they will.
In the TV match I’m expecting goals. I say that not just because Luton have been full of them at home this season but also because there is no point in Barnet looking to shut up shop and eek out a point in their position. They have eight games left to pick up a good number of points and they are not going to stay up sitting back, wasting time and playing for a draw. They have to have a go and when you consider Luton haven’t kept a clean sheet in seven league matches Barnet could well think they can score. Luton love scoring at home. They’ve done it 52 times this season including four against Crawley last month. They need a win to ease some premature angst in the stands so this is nicely balanced for some goals. I expect more than 2.5 of them.
